It is in a very rural neighborhood. But the experience is fun and gives you a close and personal experience with locals. Be careful with your choice of craft, they basket can be very time consuming. The earrings are cute and fun to make. The guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all questions. I would do this again if I return to Kigali.
Thank you so much, We’re glad you enjoyed the hands-on experience and the chance to connect with the local community. Your tip about choosing the craft is very helpful for future guests. We’d be happy to welcome you again when you return to Kigali.
This nonprofit supports women and girls in the Kigali community by teaching traditional weaving and beading techniques, helping to preserve and pass on local cultural traditions. The owner is welcoming, knowledgeable, and eager to share the organization’s mission. The woman who guided us through creating our basket and earrings was incredibly patient and encouraging. We were grateful for the opportunity to experience a small sample of the skills taught to the girls fortunate enough to be enrolled in the program.
