Sulla strada per Kazbegi, ci fermiamo al pittoresco bacino idrico di Zhinvali, quindi visitiamo il castello di Ananuri sul fiume Aragvi. Il castello fu teatro di numerose battaglie e servì da rifugio alla popolazione locale durante le guerre. Ananuri è considerato uno dei monumenti storici più belli della Georgia. Ad un'altitudine di 2200 metri sopra il livello del mare, sul lato meridionale dell'altopiano della catena del Grande Caucaso, e vicino al Passo della Croce, si trova la stazione sciistica di Gudauri. Il Panorama Gudauri è un monumento per celebrare l'amicizia tra Georgia e Russia. Stepantsminda è una piccola città. L'attrazione principale qui è la Chiesa della Santissima Trinità – il Monastero di Gergeti che si trova ad un'altitudine di 2170 metri sotto la cima della montagna di Kazbegi. Grazie alla sua posizione sulla cima di una ripida montagna, circondata da una natura molto aspra, la chiesa divenne il simbolo della conservazione delle reliquie georgiane.

Il bacino idrico di Jinvali, noto anche come lago, si trova sull'autostrada militare georgiana. I sovietici hanno costruito la diga negli anni '80, un posto meraviglioso per scattare foto straordinarie.
La fortezza di Ananuri risale ai secoli XVI-XVIII ed è situata sull'antistante vicino al fiume Aragvi. Ananuri era un castello e sede degli Eristavis (Duchi) di Aragvi, una dinastia feudale che governò la zona dal XIII secolo. Il castello fu teatro di numerose battaglie. Questo è un luogo perfetto per la fotografia di paesaggi, ci sono viste incredibilmente belle della fortezza e del bacino idrico di Jinvali insieme. La fortezza rimase in uso fino all'inizio del XIX secolo. Nel 2007, il complesso è stato inserito nella lista provvisoria per l'inclusione nel programma del patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO.
Sia gli Aragvi bianchi che gli Aragvi neri hanno il loro colore, non si mescolano tra loro. C'è un posto incredibile che attira molti turisti nell'est della Georgia, gli Aragvi bianchi e gli Aragvi neri hanno il loro colore, i fiumi non si confondono e sembrano un ruscello bianco-nero.

Jvari Pass Travertine Natural Monument è sinterizzato calcareo o tufo nella valle del fiume Baidara (2197 m). Si è formato quando i minerali di carbonato precipitano dall'acqua a temperatura ambiente. Il travertino in alcuni punti è ricoperto da un sottile strato di acqua trasparente sulla superficie bianca dei pendii dove è ancora in corso un intenso processo di sviluppo.
Stepantsminda si distingue sulla mappa della Georgia non solo perché si trova a soli undici chilometri dal confine settentrionale del paese, ma anche perché attraverso la città passa uno dei più antichi incroci tra Europa e Asia. Non si sa quando fu fondata Stepantsminda, ma qui fu scoperto un tesoro del VI-V secolo a.C.
Gergeti Trinity Church è un nome popolare per la Holy Trinity Church vicino al villaggio di Gergeti. La posizione della chiesa è la riva destra del fiume Chkheri sotto il monte Kazbegi, a 2170 metri sul livello del mare. La chiesa della Trinità di Gergeti è stata costruita nel XIV secolo ed è l'unica chiesa a croce cupola nella provincia di Khevi. In tempi di pericolo, le preziose reliquie di Mtskheta, tra cui la Croce di San Nino, venivano portate qui per essere custodite. Durante l'era sovietica, i sovietici vietarono i servizi religiosi, ma la chiesa rimase una popolare destinazione turistica. La chiesa è un'istituzione attiva della Chiesa ortodossa e apostolica georgiana. Otterrai un'epica vista panoramica di tutta la valle dalla chiesa. A causa dell'isolamento della chiesa nella ripida zona montuosa ricca di natura, rimane l'attrazione turistica più iconica della Georgia. The trip into the scenery of Ananuri, Gudauri and Kazbegi is remarkable. Who hasn't been there should take this trip. It is a little fast pace, some more stops for views and photo opportunities would be good, but understandable with the distance and traffic situation. Who was immensely good, knowledgeable and entertaining was "Vaxo", the young tour guide. He made the trip really great, thank you. What I did not like: To collect GEL20 to get up with different cars to the Trinity church from Stepansminda. That's a major highlight and everyone will do it. Why is it not incorporated in the Trip payment? The last row of 4 seats in the bus is horrible, It is very loud from the a/c above and it is difficult to hear the guide talking at the front. Apart from beeing very squeezy sitting, one does not see much outside of the fantastic scenery while driving. It is nearly impossible to take photos from there. Very unfair for people who pay the same and want to enjoy the trip. Apart from that we had a great time and can recommend to take this tour.
The guide was an arrogant young man with poor English. Our guide Levani was difficult to understand, spoke in a very patronizing fashion, asking the group some obscure questions and making fun of everyone for not knowing the answer. A few people in our group switched to another car at the first stop because of the guide. He brought us to a honey tasting stand where the owner was selling honey. A few of us, including myself, bought a few jars. The owner charged my credit card and gave us honey without giving the receipt. Due to poor internet reception, the charge did not immediately appear on my credit card. The next stop we saw another stand and inquired about the prices. It turned out that we paid twice as much for the honey than other vendors were charging. But the biggest surprise came after we got back to the hotel. Instead of charging an already elevated price of $30, I was charged $96 for two jars of honey by the dishonest vendor. Why I think our guide set us up? On the way back, our guide picked him up from his stand and gave him a ride home with us all the way to Tbilisi, chatting with him amicably. This was a very planned rip off, and I felt being taken advantage of by an unscrupulous young man. I am sorry I went on that trip.
We had so much fun totally recommend it! Guide Levani and driver Vaska. The kazbegi is nice and breathtaking views.

An exciting tour with a guide. Had booked with Tripadvisor the evening before, but when we arrived the Russian lady who was responsible for the bookings realized nothing. She and the other employees yelled a little five and back and we got assigned a seat in a bus. The seats were small and the leg space tight, but we managed the long and uneven ride. The various sights were interesting and definitely worth the trip. The guide spoke mainly Russian but also English. Nice trip. Not for older and very obese people or small children. Our dining stop was very chaotic with yelling servants and confusion regarding orders and food, and my daughter had to leave a portion of her food standing because it didn’t come so she could get to eat it before we went on. Towards the Bjerg church we were to be driven up in some old 4-wheel drive buses. The drivers drove like crazy and we were screamed off in Russian (I suppose). All in all an interesting tour with some local color. Would recommend the tour operator to optimize the planning and interaction with the guests from the partners - no one likes to be screamed or screamed out, not even people who are on holiday. I would also recommend dividing English-speaking and Russian-speaking guests up for the guides, who must communicate with both groups - a task that can be difficult to solve, which was also for our guide.
Tamara is an excellent tour guide. Very kind and informative in addition of so calm. The van is 2024 new and clean, but without Wi-Fi as mentioned in the tickets and when I asked about it, they told me to send a claim to Viator because all their cars don't have Wi-Fi. The locations are amazing and breathtaking!! Gudauri was better than Kazbegi because at Kazbigi, we waited at the Vans and Buses park till those who went up to the Gergiti church came back, then we headed back to Tbilisi. So, if you don't take the 4x4 car up to the monestry, you end up waiting at the park without any excitement like Gudauri. In General, it was a very exciting day and everyone was kind. The driver was very calm and patient on the way from tbilisi to Kazbigi, but was exactly the opposite on the way back as he drove in a very risky way and we almost hit a car on the opposite side. We felt we were in F1 race, then we shouted to slow down, so he did because also the traffic became jammed at the last 45 minutes of the trip before arriving to tblisi. He became normal.
It was an amazing experience! Our guide was incredibly helpful and explained everything about all the places we visited. The driver was also very kind and friendly. I would like to thank them both for their support and cooperation in making this trip such a great success. Highly recommended!
