They never showed up for pickup and haven't replied to any emails anymore, I'm just hoping I'll get some kind of refund. Avoid this company at all cost!
I do not believe in negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. We traveled over 7,000 miles and booked this tour weeks in advance, received multiple confirmations, and were charged the morning prior to the tour. The operator is no longer in business, so of course, no one showed up. What’s worse is that this was evidently reported to Viator at least a week prior to our date. Yet, they still confirmed our booking, charged our card, and continued to ask for reviews for two weeks. When I called to ask for a refund and a supervisor, they disconnected me. This is not a simple mistake-it’s deceptive and unethical. Viator took a payment for a service they knew could not be delivered. Travelers rely on this platform to screen legitimate operators, not to enable a scam. Follow-up- On another phone call, they promised we were on an emergency list for a call. After two weeks, we are still waiting. They continue to send request for reviews.
Payment was taken in full but the provider did not even turn up left many messages and tried to contact by phone but no answer. I think this is a fraud company in my opinion and Viator should have not done this to me.
We booked the Kahukiwi Experiences Luxury 4WD 3-hour Guided Māori Tour through the Viator app in August for an October tour. The booking was confirmed, and we received email and app confirmations in the days leading up to the tour. We were able to download tickets to our mobile devices as well. Several days before the scheduled date, we sent multiple messages through the Viator app, as instructed from the confirmation, seeking to confirm details about the pickup point since we had our own vehicle that we needed to park. We never received a single response. On the morning of the tour, we called and emailed using every contact method provided through Viator and listed on Google. Between the two sources, there were four phone numbers, one went straight to voicemail which stated the company name so we left a message, two were disconnected, and one reached an individual who said they were not affiliated with the company. No response from the company email address. We also discovered that the website for the company no longer exists. The URL provided leads to an error page. Fifteen minutes before the scheduled start time, we even visited the business address listed on both Viator and Google hoping for some contact. There was no sign of any company by that name. We arrived at the pickup point, the Rotorua Visitor Centre (the pickup point listed on the Viator ticket) a few minutes early and waited for over 30 minutes past the scheduled start time, and no one ever arrived. We have since reported this to Viator for investigation. Either this company is no longer in operation or it is running a scam, but in any case, they took our payment and completely failed to deliver the service. We have not yet received a refund. Do not book with them.
An amazing morning with Patrick spent learning about Māori history, recent struggles and the revival of Māori culture. All of this whilst seeing the stunning views around Rotorua. It’s not just a superficial tour with a bit of haka and Māori dress but an opportunity to really understand with a helpful and honest guide. Works best if you are willing to engage and learn so definitely best for adults or older teens. This was the most authentic and interesting morning we spent on North Island.
Nga here picked us up from our hotel in his very comfortable car and brought us on an adventure into his Moari heritage, culture and family. With his enthusiastic and lively storytelling he brought us from back in time to the present times of a long line of his family members, their beliefs & traditions and their lifestyle. He really touched on every aspect of the Moari history, always ensuring it remained intriguing and entertaining. Visited his ancestors hall and even his personal family farm. Even after over 3 hours of touring we didn't lose interest and we're sad to bid him farewell after the tour. Nga here made a true Maori impact on us. So happy.
We would highly recommend taking this tour with Patrick. He is personally committed to the Maori life along with his family and community. His knowledge of recent events as regards New Zealand and the Maori culture are enlightening. Well worth every cent.
We, two couples traveling together, thoroughly enjoyed our 3-hour Maori Cultural tour with Patrick in his comfortable Range Rover. He shared his ancestors' and his families' stories of their lives (both past and present) in New Zealand. The experience at his tribal gathering site was especially moving as he welcomed us in with Maori chants/songs to their sacred space. He was a fount of information about living an authentic Maori life in Rotorua. We highly recommend this tour to travelers who are looking to learn about native culture and to support a local guide business.
My wife and I spent 3 hours with Patrick today. A genuine descendent of the original local Mauri people and steeped in his tribal and family history. A tour guide like no other we have ever met. So willing to share his knowledge and his passion for the broader understanding of Mauri culture. And that’s what we came for. Awesome !! … we throughly recommend any like minded folk to take this tour without any hesitation. You won’t be disappointed !!

A great insight into the local Māori culture. Patrick gave a very in depth and respectful overview of the traditions and the way in which the Māori community came together to express their beliefs and support each other. We also learned about how the treaty of Waitangi had an impact on the custodians of the land. Very informative. I would highly recommend this tour when visiting Rotorua.
