Uno dei più grandi forti del Rajasthan, contiene alcuni dei palazzi più belli e conserva nel suo museo molte inestimabili reliquie della vita di corte indiana. All'interno del forte ci sono diversi palazzi splendidamente realizzati e decorati. Questi includono Moti Mahal (Palazzo delle perle), Phool Mahal (Palazzo dei fiori), Sheesha Mahal (Palazzo degli specchi), Sileh Khana e Daulat Khana.
L'attrazione principale di Jaswant Thada è il suo design esteticamente gradevole. Caratterizzato da elaborati intagli e realizzato in marmo bianco, è straordinariamente bello. La sala principale del monumento è sostenuta da dodici pilastri, con le sue pareti adornate da intricati disegni e sculture. Presenta anche un cenotafio che contiene i ritratti del Maharaja Jaswant Singh II e dei suoi antenati. Gli interni di Jaswant Thada sono altrettanto impressionanti, con le sue bellissime pareti e soffitti in marmo caratterizzati da intricati disegni e sculture. Un grande lampadario illumina la sala principale ed ha al centro una grande cupola. La sala principale è adornata con raffigurazioni dettagliate di dei, dee e altre figure.
La torre dell'orologio è un punto di riferimento popolare nella città vecchia. Il vivace mercato di Sardar è vicino alla torre, e stretti vicoli conducono da qui a un bazar che vende verdure, spezie, dolci indiani, tessuti, argento e artigianato. È un ottimo posto per passeggiare nel tempo libero.
Toorji Ka Jhalra, costruito nel 1740, generalmente chiamato pozzo a gradini di Jodhpur, è un progetto sbalorditivo di pozzo a gradini, una delle poche strutture residue che delineano il tradizionale sistema idrico di Jodhpur. Questo ponderoso edificio è stato costruito dal sovrano associato del Maharaja Abhaya Singh, un'indicazione della convenzione consolidata del luogo in cui donne illustri erano responsabili della direzione dei lavori idrici della società generale. Il tempio Kunj Bihari fu costruito dal Maharaja Vinay Singh in memoria del suo defunto figlio Sher Singh, morto in giovane età. Questo tempio appartiene alla setta indù Rama Nandi Vaishnava. Così qui si osservano le Rama Nandi sambradhaya (norme tradizionali) relative al culto e ad altri servizi. ? L'ingresso del tempio ha un nano di Troia. Uno Shikhar ben scolpito adorna la parte superiore del sanctum sanctorum. I pilastri trovati nel tempio sono enormi. La parte superiore dello Shikhar ha un Kalash. Il tempio ospita anche diverse sculture eleganti che riflettono la destrezza degli antichi scultori nativi.

The tour was very well organized. Mr. Pushpendra Singh picked us up promptly on time in the morning. We went first to the magnificent Mehrangarh where Pushpendra walked us around the historic attractions of the fort and added insightful commentary. We also went to Jaswant thada and covered the major attractions in the old city such as the clock tower and the stepwell. All in all, Mr. Pushpendra is a professional and knowledgeable guide who made our tour very enjoyable. highly recommended.

Pushpendra was kind enough to accommodate us in our need for a short tour--he even met us at the Umaid Heritage Art School where we were running a little behind. Pushpendra is calm and patient in both his demeanour and speech. He was very good at giving cultural context to understand the meaning of activities happening all around you. We did a quick tour of the clocktower, market, and hiked up into the old city to see the fort close up, beautifully painted murals and a sunset across the Blue City.

Pushpendra was really friendly and met us at our hotel. He even spoke German, which was a major plus point. He took us to all the major attractions. Merangah Fort using the elevator was definitely worth it during the scorching heat. Even took us to the desert rock which is definitely worth a visit. We visited 2 different local stores. First one was a handicraft/ clothes/ jewellery store, where even some locals were doing their shopping and we felt very comfortable. Everything had a fixed price and we bought a few things. Will definitely try to come back to Jodhpur for a longer stay.

Vikram brings life to the many historic buildings to life and makes the day easy with intimate knowledge. The guards of monuments recognise him immediately and you get Fasttrack treatment to avoid queues. Importantly, in the 39C heat he also knows where to stop and chat with a breeze, a fan or some AC respite. Apart from the usual sights and monuments Vikram took us to the interesting old blue part of town where he organised entry to an original private house. We met the owners and enjoyed fantastic alternative views from the rooftops. His suggested whole seller of fabric and architectural salvage was refreshingly not a tourist rip off but a genuine commercial entity. He organised the top table at a great rooftop restaurant (Indique) with fabulous views of the illuminated fort. Apart from the great day we felt like we had a good friend by the end of the day. Authentic and highly recommended.
