This trip was absolutely amazing from start to finish and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting this part of the island. Pick up was bang on time at 09.30 and we were literally a few minutes drive away from the winery. It was a small group of six people and we were driven from the winery up mount Epomeo to the vineyard. The views were spectacular, and it was a little cooler up there, which was fine for us Brits. Our guide told us how the vineyard had been in the same family for generations, how the vines are tended and harvested (via monorail!) - she explained the grafting of vines to roots and how they managed diseases to the vines as well. We came back and were given an insight into how the wine was made and bottled, which was really interesting, particularly as they had just harvested the grapes (so perfect timing). We then had a lovely wine tasting (3 whites then 2 reds) and a charcuterie board to complement the wines, over a couple of hours. It really was a fantastic half a day tour.
My wife and I enjoyed the tour and I think it was worth the price. Fantastic views from the vineyards and we had an excellent guide. The wine tasting was fun and the wines were quite good. Nice to be picked up and dropped off at our hotel. We had a problem hearing the guide in the factory.
I always make it a point to book a wine tour if available in the region we are. I love to see where the wine is grown! In Ischia it is grown on the top of the island and it took sometime to get up to the vineyard but oh what views! We enjoyed our wine tour and the tasting! This is a must do!
