Dominata dal Monte Epomeo, Ischia è una bellissima isola che confina con Capri conosciuta come l'isola verde molto più grande di Capri. Vedrai tutti i punti salienti mentre vai in un bel tour in pullman intorno all'isola. È ora di pranzo prima di raggiungere i giardini subtropicali di La Mortella. I giardini sono stati creati dal compositore inglese Sir William Walton e sua moglie che vivevano qui dal 1949. Sono presenti oltre 300 piante rare ed esotiche, insieme a statue e cascate decorate. La Mortella è divisa in due parti: un giardino inferiore, chiamato The Valley, e un giardino superiore su The Hill, a terrazze con muri di sostegno. Le numerose aree del giardino sono collegate da una rete di passeggiate, sentieri, rampe e gradini che si arrampicano sui muri a secco permettendo ai visitatori di raggiungere la collina superiore, da dove possono godere di viste mozzafiato sulla baia di Forio.

As I said in the title a place to see absolutely.Testimony has come down to us thanks to the love and tenacity of a wonderful English couple who dedicated their time, energies and substances to the creation of this wonderful place where there are plants from every part of the globe.I find it difficult to explain in words what it feels like to admire this masterpiece.I can only attach some photos and recommend visiting it
Beautiful gardens located in other forio the guided tour with Alessia made us discover these exciting routes with plants from all over the world and breathtaking views from above. Fountains orchids water lilies greenhouses with statues and streams all nice and cared for the visit lasts 2 hours highly recommended
Beautiful Vista, stunning and glorious. Some areas are not an easy climb with steep uneven steps but well worth it and a chance to rest on each level. Great value for a day trip
We appreciated that Ischia was less "touristy" than Capri, but still beautiful and vibrant. The Mortella gardens were GORGEOUS, with a cafe in the middle that was a great place to rest and get a glass of Prosecco or snack. Our tour guide was wonderful - so kind and informative. My family (2 adults, and a 16-year-old and 23-year-old boy) all enjoyed the day.
Ischia beautiful, but all the spas open in April (and many shops and restaurants) and we could not take a bath. Winter is best shot abroad.

We went with Mariarossario- what a caring and calm guide- she is a jewel. She made us all feel comfortable- even when the bus gave problems. The scenic trip, lunch and beautiful gardens all contributed to a wonderful experience. Thanks so much!

The visit to the Gardens of Sir and Lady Walton was an experience of the senses thanks to the scents and colors of exotic plants (from Africa and South America in the garden in the Valley and from Asia in the garden in the hills). Priceless view on the western part of the island that you can enjoy from the resort Zaro. Both the Temple of the Sun (an ancient cistern converted into a greenhouse with bas-reliefs, paintings and writings of mythological inspiration) and the Lady Walton memorial and the victoria's house exude a mysterious and perhaps esoteric charm. Along the way, you will come across a small concert hall-theatre with attached library that welcomes the visitor with symphonic music by composer Walton, and numerous objects (photos, medals, sculptures, paintings, stage clothes). At the end of the route (at least 2 hours), near the so-called Greek theater, there is a colonial-style dining area.

Entrance to the garden is €12 for adults, on foot or by taxi entry from the bottom, by car free parking at the top and entry from the top. Very beautiful, lots of incredible plants. Very interesting

The gardens are spectacular, carefully maintained by the staff. The view is breathtaking. The time to visit is about two hours. We went in the morning around 10:30 and found few people and little heat; There is also a car park from which you can go down from point 20 to point 1 (in reverse). The bar halfway through the route is very suggestive: we had a juice, a glass of prosecco and a zingara sandwich and a slice of ricotta and pear cake... all excellent!! The plants and flowers present are wonderful and there is also the tree fern, one of the oldest plants in the world. I highly recommend having this experience, for those like me who hate insects I can guarantee that, although they are present, they are not particularly annoying.
