Il castello è la residenza ufficiale di Sua Maestà il Re e qui si svolgono parti essenziali della rappresentanza della monarchia, mentre gran parte del castello è aperta tutto l'anno. Situato a Gamla Stan o nella Città Vecchia, il Palazzo Reale di Stoccolma ha più di 1.400 camere, 11 piani e solo 1 balcone. Il Palazzo è anche la più grande residenza reale ufficiale in Europa, persino più grande di Buckingham Palace a Londra. Ci sono molte attrazioni qui: il Tesoro con le insegne reali, il Museo delle Tre Corone sulla storia medievale del castello e, non ultimi, i piani di Rappresentanza con le pompose sale di parata. Durante i mesi estivi sono aperti anche il museo delle antichità di Gustavo III e la chiesa del castello. Il cambio della guardia è popolare tra i visitatori, così come il negozio Slottsboden.

Excellent tour of the Palace with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Avoided the crowds and learned so much with this private tour.

Excellent tour of the Royal Palace by Fer with a focused discussion on the royalty, political evolution and the use of the palace. Highly recommend Fer and this tour.
