Pedro’s climbing company and guides stand above the rest. He is knowledgeable, welcoming, and supportive—and he has the highest caliber, certified climbing guides in all of Bolivia. When tackling high-altitude peaks it’s important to work with those who know the terrain, and what to do in inclement weather. Bolivian Mountaineering delivers across all fronts to ensure you reach your summit successfully—and descend safely.
The boss Pedro does this job in the 3rd generation and it shows. From the start everything went totally smoothly. Every question was answered quickly, clearly and in flawless English. I didn't only go to Illimani with them (summiting was unfortunately not possible due to very bad weather) but also to Sajama. The guide and porters were incredibly nice people, tents and other gear were fine and most important of all I felt perfectly safe all the time. To top it of all of this was done at half the price that some other operators asked for. Whether you're a beginner or an highly experienced mountaineer, Bolivian mountaineering is the team you want to climb with.
I scheduled 2 summits with Pedro and Bolivian Mountaineering in April 2023. Prior to the departure, the organization was very communicative and helpful in planning a tour that was appropriate for my level of experience and the goals I desired. During the first scheduled summit I developed significant acute mountain sickness and had to return to town. Pedro was incredibly considerate and drove me and my friend back and already starting working on a plan, as well as providing medical aid options if necessary. The next day he provided 3 additional options to replace the original summit which would allow for better acclimatization and still achieve my goal for another summit (Illimani). He provided technical training and was able to provide me and my friend the best resources to summit. I felt like I was in the best hands with substantial experience. For anyone interested in mountaineering, which can be a dangerous experience, remember that you get what you pay for. If you want a professional that you can rely on, I recommend Bolivian Mountaineering.
