Il Grande Meteoron, noto anche come Santo Monastero dei Metamorfossi (Trasfigurazione di Cristo), è un monastero maschile ed è il più antico e il più grande di tutti i monasteri di Meteora. Visiterai questo monastero nei giorni in cui è aperto, altrimenti visiterai Varlaam o St Nikolas.

We had a very pleasant morning in the company of our guide, Nikos. The hike was accessible, with stunning viewpoints, and very interesting exchanges with our guide.
We had a fantastic experience, this way you feel and experience this unearthly landscape much more intensely than with a bus trip. It's not a hard walk
The trip was done by another organization Meteora Trip (so not Meteora Thrones) which was not a problem. Yannis was a super good guide who guided us through the area with knowledge of the local history and nature and humor. In short, a fun, educational walk. Recommended!
Spectacular experience and stunning scenery. It's a magical, mystical, amazing place... The Clemens guide has been wonderful. Behaved great, tried to communicate with us and modified the route because of the weather. It suited us and the weather. And that's unpayable. Another in his place would have stayed the same because he was hired and ready. He recommended us, helped us and accompanied us. 10/10

Very well organised with tour guides that have a lot of knowledge about Meteora. Our tour guides Nancy and Yanis were wonderful and professional. I would recommend this tour to everyone wanting to do a bit more then just drive to monastery to monastery.

We chose the hiking tour with Vaso who was great. Stefan picked up from our hotel on time, drove us up to the Varlaam monastery where we spent some time, the best one I think, and then we walked DOWN to Kalambaka with Vaso as our guide through the mountains seeing so many things including another monastery you would not see from a road tour and unique rock formations. It was tranquil, informative and an easy walk. By far the best thing we did while in Meteora. Even if you are not a hiker, this walk is an easy downhill 2-3 hours. Give it a go.

Tour not tiring in those who visit the monasteries that have a few steps to do, in one we made the steps only downhill (the bus has recovered a hairpin bend lower). A very interesting experience: beautiful views + guide info explaining history and geology. The guide speaks English, but included in the ticket is a vocal explanation in Italian.

Vasiliki was such a friendly & helpful guide! It was so nice to take a hike around the area without having to worry about getting lost. The views were great and there was still plenty of shade!
