Dopo aver fotografato e osservato per 20 anni i modelli comportamentali delle balene franche australi che visitano ogni anno Walker Bay, mi considero uno specialista comportamentale delle balene e Offro un'esperienza unica e interattiva di osservazione delle balene a terra, che include la condivisione di conoscenze e storie personali che abbracciano oltre due decenni. Mentre fotografavo questi spettacolari mammiferi, è diventato un mio sogno pubblicare un libro fotografico. Introduzione alle balene franche australi e Hermanus La visita al museo serve a familiarizzare i clienti con la balena franca australe, informazioni sulla loro dimensione, lunghezza e peso. Dico loro la connessione/sinergia che c'è tra le balene e Hermanus. Parlo dei giorni della caccia alle balene e dell'impatto che ha avuto su di loro e di come ha quasi portato alla loro scomparsa. Il tour segue quindi il bellissimo sentiero sulla scogliera di fronte alla città a un'altitudine di circa 15 metri sopra l'oceano. Questa elevazione si presta ad avere un ottimo punto di vista sulla baia. Ciò di cui la gente non si rende conto è che la profondità dell'oceano immediatamente giù dalle scogliere è di circa 10 metri. Ciò consente alle balene di avvicinarsi alle rocce delle scogliere a una distanza quasi ravvicinata. Le balene si vedono spesso tra i 50 ei 300 metri dalla linea di costa.
Goditi una passeggiata di 2 ore lungo il sentiero della scogliera con me stesso. Conosco tutti i luoghi segreti di avvistamento delle balene. Conosco intimamente ogni balena. The booking process was really easy and the tour was extremely fun, well pitched, engaging for us and our two kids aged 14 and 17. We chose land based as we have sea sickness in our party and were able to enjoy a variety of view points and understand more about the whales that travel in and out of hermanus. It was a great way to experience the whales of the area and we are deeply grateful for Dave’s open hearted nature and wisdom. He’s also a very talented photographer ! The restaurant next to his shop was also excellent for food after!

This is a long overdue review. Our tour with Dave was beyond amazing. It was the highlight of our trip to Hermanus. He is just so passionate and shares all his knowledge. He went above and beyond and drove for a long time to show us the whales. I could not recommend him more. My family and I were delighted to meet him, an absolute privilege.
Obviously knowledgeable and enthusiastic about whales. Unfortunately did not see a single whale on this afternoon trip though had seen a mother and calf in the same area in the morning. That’s nature.
Absolutely amazing experience! Dave is so passionate, knowledgable and friendly, and having a private tour like this makes all the difference. He took us to multiple locations and shared intimate knowledge of the whales and local area. We highly highly recommend!
Absolutely fantastic! Couldn’t be more pleased. David was engaging, very knowledgeable , and informative. We had a great show of Southern Rights , with some persistence needed, but lots by the end.

The tour with Dave is definitely a highlight of our tour. Dave has decades of experience and deep knowledge of whales. He was patient and enthusiastic with all of the questions we had. We had a boat-based whale watching tour the next day, and still find the tour with Dave very helpful and necessary. His tour helped us build a strong foundation and understanding of these magnificent animals. Dave tried his best to ensure that we could see the whales in the best location. He drove us to the nearby towns to look for great locations, and we were able to watch several whales. Through Dave, we also learned a lot about the history and culture of Hermanus and the towns around. We cannot recommend Dave’s tour enough! Whether you have a boat tour planned or not, this trip is a must-do. Thank you, Dave, for such a memorable and insightful adventure!
