excellent! although it would have been even better if the volcano had erupted while we were there 🙂
Our guide was exceptional he had to deal with a delayed start due to us clearing immigration He then proceeded to take us to a couple of craters - one was obscured by clouds. He was cheerful and entertaining The weather wasn’t great but we had a great tour - Highly recommended
Aaron was awesome! I traveled with my middle school age son, and Aaron personalized the tour to our abilities. He was very kind, knowledgeable of Volcano National Park and the local area as he was born and raised here. He gave us great insight, provided personalized recommendations. I would highly recommend!

This was an awesome experience and our tour guide Nhi had a wealth of knowledge being a lifetime resident of the island. He was able to give us information not only about the volcanoes but the culture, history, geographical area, and more! The national volcanoes tour was a great once in a lifetime experience as we were able to see the eruption of Kilauea for the historical 50th time! It was surreal and we were glad to be a part of that historic time. We also were able to experience driving through one of the other large mountains, Mauna Loa, to get there. We were on the Kona side and had to go to Hilo for the tour. We were also able to get awesome facts about the soil and see lava rocks and ash that formed obsidian along the route. Toured the lava tube and felt the steam from the volcano’s steam vents around the area. It was such an awesome experience I would definitely recommend for you to do this while there!

Our guide and driver Aaron is one of those people you find yourself feeling deeply grateful for having the opportunity to have had share his homeland with you. His tour emphasized the importance of Hawaiian culture as a crucial component of understanding of the awesome natural forces in play at Volcano. We loved the legends of the Ancients he colored his narrative with. As Aaron reiterated: Ohana means family, in the broadest sense of the word. All are included. Non are left behind. We are truly grateful to feel part of Aaron’s ohana.

Aaron was super friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the island, not just the volcano. He shared plant knowledge along with Hawaiian lore and places to eat and visit! At the volcano we hit several vantage points, the Nāhuku lava tube and Keanakāko’i crater. Highly recommend if you want to support local and have a great volcano experience.
