It was a lovely experience going to a market to buy the food and then we walked to the tour guide’s house to cook a delicious meal.
Excellent guide with a 100% authentic experience!! The process of choosing our dishes, buying our own produce, and then cooking a meal was an incredibly fun and informative process.
Very comprehensive. Decided on a menu, visited a local market & then prepared, cooked & ate the food. The chef, Tom, was very knowledgeable and friendly. A real insight into VN cooking. It was good for teens.
We had a great time cooking with our guide. He was friendly and welcoming and allowed us to feel like family in his home. It was nice to go to the market and be a part of the meal planning. Great experience!
We had a bad experience with this tour booking. When we booked it accepted our hotel as a pick up location. But 2 hours before the tour they said they couldn't pick up from our hotel, even though they had accepted our hotel pick up, we had already paid. We asked for a refund but they wouldn't. They offered a 1 way taxi or grab free. The point was they accepted our pick up & drop off location thats why we booked with them they took our money but when they messaged to say we were to far away, wouldn't refund our money then called us rude. They kept our money 1,800000VND - $113 AUD. We asked a number of times for a refund but they kept the money, we would not recommend this tour be careful.
Dear Adam, Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience. For our cooking class, we offer complimentary pick-up and drop-off services for hotels within the Old Quarter or Hoan Kiem Lake area (4km), as our policy clearly states on the Viator platform. Since your accommodation was around 8km away, we offered a free Grab car for pick-up, but understand you chose not to join the class. Additionally, we would like to offer you a complimentary food and Train Street tour or a car drop-off at the airport. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to our cooking class in the future. Best wishes, Rose
So much fun! Learning about local culture, touring the market, trying new foods, learning to make different dishes. Every part was great and a highlight from my trip!
Beautiful experience that allows you to get into Vietnamese culture. Point of Sale in particular is very strong, completely different from the European Point of Sale. Our Guide, Tom, kind and prepared person.
My cooking class in Hanoi, Vietnam, was fantastic and one of the most authentic experiences I've ever had. The class was more than just cooking—it was an immersive journey into the local culture. We started our day by visiting bustling local markets, where we were given Vietnamese currency to purchase fresh ingredients. This hands-on approach allowed us to interact with local vendors, making the experience even more genuine. After gathering our ingredients, we headed to a local home, where the real magic happened. Cooking in an actual Vietnamese kitchen, surrounded by the warm hospitality of our hosts, made the experience incredibly special. Tom, our guide, along with the other students, made the entire process enjoyable and educational. The food we prepared was delicious, but what made this class outstanding was the connection we felt with the local people and their way of life. It was not just a cooking class but a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture. Thank you, Tom, and all the students, for making this experience so amazing!
We started with discussing our menu with Einstein over a cup of tea, then off to the market to buy the ingredients before heading to Einstein’s home to cook in his kitchen. It was a great experience. Einstein was super friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this experience if you enjoy a cultural experience.
Appallingly nice man. He took us to his house, we met his son and his mother-in-law. First we bought all the ingredients at the local market. We were allowed to choose what we wanted to make. When we got home we made fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls, fried rice cakes, a sauce for the spring rolls and green Papaya salad. Everything was equally delicious! The teacher took us home on the scooter, for my husband a Grab scooter, we got the tourist route over the train bridge, great!! A 10+ from us
