Il nostro autista vi verrà a prendere dal vostro hotel o dall'aeroporto di Agra e vi condurrà in un'auto privata a Gwalior, coprendo una distanza di 120 km. All'arrivo, la nostra Guida Esperta vi incontrerà per iniziare il tour turistico dello storico Forte di Gwalior. Costruito nell'VIII secolo d.C. da Raja Man Singh Tomar, il forte sorge su una ripida collina chiamata Gopachal. All'interno, visiterai strutture notevoli come Man Mandir e Karan Mandir, nonché il Museo Archeologico. Il Man Mandir, costruito da Raja Man Singh, è rinomato per le sue bellissime opere d'arte murali.
Il tempio Sas Bahu a Gwalior, dedicato a Lord Vishnu, fu commissionato dal re Mahipala nel 1092 d.C. Lord Vishnu, noto anche come Sahastrabahu (“uno con molte mani”), ha prestato al tempio il suo nome originale, che nel tempo si è evoluto in “Sas Bahu” a causa di errori di pronuncia o interpretazione. Costruito per cercare la prosperità e il successo del suo regno, il tempio di re Mahipala è un esempio eccezionale di architettura medievale. Il complesso comprende due templi – uno più grande e uno più piccolo – simbolicamente indicati come i templi della “suocera” e della “nuora”. Entrambi presentano pareti intricate, figure aggraziate e pilastri finemente lavorati, che riflettono una notevole abilità artistica e architettonica.
Gurdwara Data Bandi Chhorh Sahib a Gwalior commemora la prigionia di Guru Hargobind Sahib nel Forte di Gwalior e la sua storica liberazione, durante la quale ha assicurato la libertà di 52 re imprigionati. Il nome "Bandi" significa "imprigionato" e "Chhor" significa "rilascio".
Gujari Mahal fu costruito da Raja Man Singh Tomar per sua moglie, Mrignayani, una principessa Gujar. Richiese un palazzo separato con un approvvigionamento idrico costante, che fu fornito attraverso un acquedotto dal vicino fiume Rai. Il palazzo è ora un museo archeologico che espone rari manufatti, tra cui sculture indù e giainisti del I e II secolo a.C., una statua in miniatura di Salabhanjika, oggetti in terracotta e repliche di affreschi delle grotte di Bagh.
Il Palazzo Jai Vilas, costruito nel 1874 dal Maharaja Jayajirao Scindia a Gwalior, in India, è una residenza reale del XIX secolo. La maggior parte del palazzo ospita oggi il Museo Jiwajirao Scindia, aperto al pubblico dal 1964, mentre una parte rimane la residenza privata della famiglia Scindia.

One of the main attractions of gwalior city. Present near the Gwalior Fort, so one can visit in a single go. An ancient temple , that is not active anymore but still gives divine vibes. The temple will remind you of the rich architectural heritage that India has. The place is calm & not many people visit it that often so it is free of fuss.

If you are in Uttar Pradesh or Rajasthan or you are planning a travel there, Gwalior, even it is in a state nearby, should be in your trip! Its fort is really amazing and a bit different from the Mughal buildings. The two Hindu temples and the Maharaja's palace worths the effort to get there too. The tour guide was really fantastic, there was nothing that he doesn't know, from architectural details to indian culture and dynasties. A special thanks to the driver for the great job, because Gwalior streets and the road to get there from Agra are very crowded. Good backoffice organization too. I gave 4 stars because getting to Gwalior from Agra by car could be exhausting. I suggest to get to Gwalior by a high-level train ticket if possible, otherwise splitting the visit to the city on two days with the night in Gwalior
Cool place to see. The guide was good, but they skipped 2/5 stops on the list. The driver didn’t know where he was going in Gwalior and had to stop for directions a dozen times. Overall just ok.
Hi Amy, I'm sorry to hear that your experience at the place you visited was just okay and that some parts of the tour were not up to your expectations. It's unfortunate that the guide skipped 2 out of 5 stops on the list. A tour that doesn't include all the promised stops can be disappointing, especially if those were places you were really looking forward to seeing. It's also not ideal that the driver didn't seem to know where he was going in Gwalior and had to stop for directions multiple times. This can be frustrating, and it can also cut into the time you have to explore the area. I hope that despite these shortcomings, you were still able to enjoy the parts of the tour that did go well and that you were able to make the most of your visit to the place you saw.
