Su una collina rocciosa a cui è difficile arrivare, sulle rive del fiume Darro, protetta da montagne e circondata da boschi, fra i quartieri più antichi della città, l'Alhambra si erge come un imponente castello con toni rossastri, con i suoi bastioni che impediscono al resto del mondo di ammirare la delicata bellezza che vi è racchiusa. Originariamente progettata come una zona militare, l'Alhambra divenne la residenza della famiglia reale e della corte di Granada a metà del XIII secolo, dopo l'istituzione del regno Nasridi e la costruzione del primo palazzo, dal fondatore re Mohammed Ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, meglio conosciuto come Alhamar. La fortezza divenne una cittadella con alti bastioni e torri difensive, che ospitano due aree principali: l'area militare o Alcazaba, la caserma della guardia reale, e la medina o la corte della città, sito del famoso Palazzi Nasridi, e i resti delle case dei nobili e plebei che vi abitavano.
Generalife è composto da una serie di ampi giardini, dove ogni angolo può contenere una novità e una piacevole sorpresa per gli occhi, con pochi edifici ad invaderli.
L'Alcazaba svolgeva una funzione semplicemente militare. L'ingresso all'Alcazaba era ai piedi della Torre del Homenaje. Alla base della torre vi è una lieve pendenza. Un semplice passaggio a forma di L evita che il cancello principale si veda dall'esterno.
Residenza abituale dei re di Granada, la loro costruzione iniziò all'inizio del XIV secolo. I Palazzi Nasridi sono un complesso palaziale formato da tre edifici: Il Mexuar è la sala più antica. Era utilizzato per gli incontri tra i ministri del re e come aula di tribunale. - Successivamente, arriviamo al Palazzo di Comares, che risale all'epoca di Yusuf I. Questa dimora è stata eretta intorno al Patio DE los Arrayanes (Cortile dei Mirti), e le sue uscite si de conducono alla Sala DE los Embajadores (Sala degli Ambasciatori) e alla Sala de la Barca (Sala della Barca). - Il Palazzo dei Leoni, risalente all’epoca di Maometto V, è anche residenza reale. È composto da un cortile centrale, il Cortile dei Leoni, e sale lungo ogni lato, la Sala dei Mocarabei, la Sala dei Re, la Sala delle Due Sorelle, la Sala delle Ajimeces, che conduce al mirador Daraxa belvedere, e la Sala degli Abencerrajes, insieme all'Harem

Your partner or provider granavision was a scam! It was charging a lot for things and services we could not use unless you paid more!

The staff at the meeting point were great , polite, patient and well organized.. the setup for our timed visit to the Nasrid palace was perfect. It is entirely worthy !! but … We just didn’t enjoyed the audioguide. Unable to set it loud enough to cover the ambient noise . Also It was hard to follow / match where we were with the audioguide , because a lot of room looked the same… But personally, I would not take a fully guided tour with a group, that would be too painful for me .

Buy official tickets for 22 euro including places. 1065856619 Don’t buy these reseller marked up tickets The official site sells an adult ticket for 22 euro including palaces. I’d highly recommend the palaces. Google this to get the official site (trip advisor blocks sharing links) alhambra-patronato.es The .org site that is the second hit on Google is 3-4x the actual price — which is about 22 euro in June 2026

The Alhambra is an absolutely stunning place and one of the highlights of our trip to Spain. The palaces, gardens, and incredible architecture are truly breathtaking. Everything inside the complex is well worth visiting, and we had an amazing experience once we got in. The only issue was the ticket collection process. We booked through Tripadvisor, with the tour operated by GRANAVISIÓN – Movviendo Tourism Group. The booking instructions were not clear that the tickets needed to be collected from the operator's office rather than the official Alhambra ticket office. We went to the Alhambra ticket office first and then had to find the operator's office, which was stressful and took extra time. Despite this inconvenience, the Alhambra itself is magnificent and absolutely worth visiting. Just make sure you know exactly where to collect your tickets before you go.

Site to visit absolutely, magnificent. Audioguide clearly audible in French, but the explanations were not precise enough during the movements. Beautiful experience nonetheless. Majestic Nasrid Palace.

This facility allows for a time travel experience that, no matter which part of the Alhambra is being visited, fills one with awe and wonder. Of course, I would recommend everyone to definitely include the Nasrid Palaces in their visit. One of the most beautiful and impressive examples of architecture I have ever seen.

Very LONG day full of walking and lots of stairs and uneven walkways. Amazing areas to see and so much to learn about Andalucian culture and history. Our 9 & 11 year old granddaughters enjoyed seeing it- unfortunately we visited on one of the hottest days (100’F). Take plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat, and wear good tennies or walking shoes. Areas to buys snacks, water, and souvenirs. We had been before about 16 years ago- much easier when we were younger😉.
