La Torre del Trigonio è anche conosciuta come balcone di Salonicco. Offre una vista eccellente dell'acropoli della città. La chiesa principale, dedicata alla Trasfigurazione, è splendidamente decorata con affreschi ben conservati, e l'intero luogo sembra calmo e vissuto perché è ancora un monastero attivo appartenente al Patriarcato Ecumenico. È richiesto un abito modesto (spalle e ginocchia coperte).
Entra nella chiesa di San Demetrio , una delle più antiche e importanti chiese bizantine di Salonicco, ammira gli affreschi e scendi alle catacombe per vedere una parte della storia della città. Il martedì la cripta è chiusa e possiamo visitare solo la chiesa
Durante un tour di un'intera giornata a Salonicco, una sosta al Foro Romano (noto anche come l'antica Agorà) è un affascinante passo indietro nell'epoca romana della città. Proprio nel cuore del centro moderno, all'incrocio delle vie Olympou e Filippou, questo grande sito archeologico a cielo aperto era un tempo il vivace centro commerciale, politico e sociale della Salonicco romana, con i suoi edifici principali costruiti nel II secolo d.C.
Entra nel museo della stazione della metropolitana Venizelou e ammira i resti di Via Egnatia che mostrano i gloriosi tempi romani di Salonicco.
Ammira i resti del famoso Arco Galerio attraverso il quale passava Via Egnazia, l'antica 'autostrada' che collegava Roma con Costantinopoli.
Entrerai nel punto di riferimento più famoso di Salonicco che è un museo e godrai della sua fantastica vista sulla cima.
Dopo aver dato un'occhiata alla statua di Filippo II ci spostiamo ad ammirare l'eterno re di Macedonia, Alessandro Magno sul suo orgoglioso cavallo Vuchefalas nel punto più fotografato di Salonicco.
Il padre di Alessandro Magno sta fermo sul piedistallo di fronte alla Torre Bianca, come se vedessimo quanto sia orgoglioso di suo figlio e delle incredibili cose che ha realizzato.
Un edificio unico nel suo genere, l'unica chiesa cristiana circolare al mondo, con splendidi mosaici e la storia speciale di un edificio che si è trasformato da un tempio romano, a una chiesa cristiana, a una moschea e di nuovo a una chiesa. Il martedì il museo è chiuso quindi possiamo vedere solo l'esterno.

Great experience. Giannis picked us up from our hotel, provided waters and drove us around the city and gave us a 5 hour tour in which we experienced the full city. All the top places a traveler needs to see while in Thessaloniki. Highly recommend.

Our driver and tour guide, Yannis, picked us up right on time from our hotel, the Electra Palace, in downtown Thessaloniki. Yannis is a life long resident of the city and he speaks perfect English. His enthusiasm for the city’s history was clear throughout the tour. His new Citroen van was cool and comfortable as we ventured from one amazing site to another. With a friendly and engaging personality, Yannis made it easy and fun for us to learn so much as we visited each of the main historical sites covering thousands of years of history. We finished the day with a very special treat. Yannis knows where to find the best bougatsa in the city. It was an incredible treat warm from the oven. Yannis was wonderful! I really can't say enough. He adjusted the tour to be at our pace as my husband was struggling with a bad leg. He worked to get us close to things and make it easier for him. He gave us so much information and history without overwhelming us and making it interesting and fun. He told us about greek life, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. He even went out of us way and after I had expressed in an interest, got me a Bougatsa to try! I would highly recommend Yannis. Being a local I had never been on a guided tour before. However, I knew that I hadn't visited some important sites of my city and as for the ones that I had, I just had a rather vague idea of their history as I had visited them when I was a schoolchild. This was the reason why I decided to look for a guided tour and I have to say that the whole experience exceeded my expectations! Giannis made sure that by the end of the tour I had formed a thorough understanding of the history of the city and instead of just providing me with information about each sight he actually helped me realize how some sights are even interrelated and interconnected in the continuum of the history of Thessaloniki. I absolutely loved the tour. Giannis is really good at capturing your attention and keeping it throughout the tour and, being a teacher, I have to say that this is a really difficult thing! I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour both to locals who want to become more familiar with their city's history and of course to tourists and travelers who want to go off the beaten track and seek for meaningful experiences.
