Gobustan occupa lo sperone sud-orientale della Grande catena del Caucaso e si trova 60 km a sud di Baku. È una zona semi-desertica monticolata sezionata da numerosi calanchi e burroni e Gobustan, in traduzione, significa "terra del burrone". Grotte e affioramenti rocciosi circondano la regione. Insediata fin dall'età della pietra, l'area è uno dei maggiori e più antichi musei di incisioni rupestri (petroglifi) del mondo.
Inoltre, intorno al Parco Nazionale di Gobustan lungo la costa del Mar Caspio si trovano vulcani di fango che trasudano, gorgogliosi tumuli di fanghi un tempo sotterranei e metano A differenza dei vulcani ignei che spargono lava o del fango frizzante ribollente di Rotorua, il contenuto delle cupole di fango di Gobustan hanno freddo.
Fire Temple of Baku (Ateshgah) è un tempio religioso simile a un castello nella città di Surakhani. L '"Ateshgah" era un centro di pellegrinaggio e filosofico degli zoroastriani del subcontinente indiano nordoccidentale, che erano coinvolti nel commercio con l'area del Caspio attraverso la famosa "Grand Trunk Road". Il tempio è stato restaurato l'ultima volta nel 1975. Burning Land è un incendio a gas naturale che brucia continuamente su una collina nella penisola di Absheron sul Mar Caspio vicino a Baku. Le fiamme si propagano nell'aria a 3 metri (9,8 piedi) da un sottile strato poroso di arenaria. La fiamma di Yanar Dag (Burning Land) fu notata solo quando accesa accidentalmente da un pastore negli anni '50.

I highly recommend this tour whether solo or as a group. My driver was very professional and accomodating to my needs during the stops we made. It was super relaxing and enjoyed learning about Azerbaijan, Baku and the historical sites. Thank you to Movsum for a wonderful tour!

Amazing experience arranged on VERY short notice. Literally decided a night in advance to travel to Baku for the weekend. Aygul arranged for everything the night before by 11pm before our arrival the next day. Day 1 we covered Fire Mountain, Fire Temple, Gobustan and Mud Volcanos Day 2 was Shahdag and all snow activities, Day 3 was Alpaca farm in the morning with a full day Baku tour in the afternoon and evening. Aygul was amazing, as was Anar. Friendly, Supportive, Accommodating. Thank you for a great experience!

Recommend a private tour, our guide is Saddar, he’s very informative, with detail explanation on the country history, cultures and of course food here in Baku. Try Khalifa Restaurant located in Baku city, offers Azerbaijan food to try, with acceptable price range. This is our first experience in Baku, possibly will visit again 👍
