La Grande Sfinge di Giza è uno dei monumenti più iconici dell'Egitto e del mondo. Si tratta di una statua in pietra calcarea con il corpo di un leone e la testa di un uomo, che si ritiene rappresenti il faraone Khafre (costruttore della seconda piramide a Giza). La Sfinge è lunga circa 73 metri e alta 20 metri, rendendola la più grande statua monolitica del mondo antico. Si affaccia direttamente a est, verso il sole nascente, ed era visto come un potente guardiano dell'Altopiano di Giza. La statua ha più di 4.500 anni (risalente al 2500 a.C. circa). Il naso e la barba mancanti sono misteri famosi: la maggior parte degli storici ritiene che siano stati distrutti in periodi successivi.

We had an incredible experience visiting the Giza Pyramids. Seeing these ancient wonders in person was unforgettable.
