Il Monastero di Agios (Santo) Nektarios è il monumento religioso più importante di Egina, situato a 6 km dal centro della città di Egina. Il monastero fu fondato dal vescovo di Pentapolis Nektarios intorno al periodo 1904-1910, su richiesta di diverse monache. Il vescovo Nektarios si stabilì a Egina nel 1908, ma il monastero operò di nuovo nel 1904 sotto la sua guida mentre rimase nella scuola di Rizarios. Visse nel monastero per 13 anni e fu sepolto sotto un platano fuori dalla chiesa del monastero.
Il Tempio di Afaia o Afea è un tempio greco antico situato all'interno di un complesso di santuario dedicato alla dea Afaia sull'isola di Egina, che si trova nel Golfo Saronico.

Town Village Aegina: Egina Town è la capitale e il porto principale dell'isola. È una deliziosa cittadina, con bellissimi edifici neoclassici di diversi colori vivaci, stradine strette, caffè pittoreschi, belle piazze e un incantevole porto dove ormeggiano piccole barche da pesca colorate. Tutta la città è un’esplosione di colori, accentuati dalle colorate noci di pistacchio vendute ovunque. Un sacco di ristoranti per godersi il pranzo durante il tempo libero.

We were looking for an opportunity to visit the coast during our trip to Athens. The Aegina island small group day trip was perfect. The tickets were easy to purchase in advance through Trip Advisor, we took the metro from Monastiraki Station to Piraeus Station and then a short walk to a convenient meeting place at the 5 Star Cafe, where we met our guide Maria. Maria was well organized and explained the logistics of our tour very clearly, so we felt very comfortable knowing what to expect. On the tour Maria provided interesting and useful information. Our tour shuttle was comfortable, had air conditioning, easily accommodated our group of 13 adults. Maria guided us all the way, and provided further assistance for our return after the tour, from the ferry port to get back to our hotel.

It was nice to get out of Athens for the day and see a different island. The ruins were amazing (they are in really good condition, compared to others). The beach is wonderful and the pistachio tasting at the end was delicious! We loved Maria!

We had an amazing time on this tour. Our guide Maria was very knowledgeable, organized and made sure that we have a good time on the island. My main reason to visit Aegina was the fact that the island grows a lot of pistachios and I wanted to see the farms and the nut on the tree although island has much more to offer. We were not rushed anywhere and instead of doing three islands in one day and spending an hour on each (which is something one of the other Viator tour offers), spending more time on just one island was more worth it. Temple of Aphaia and the monastery were good sights to visit. Our last stop at the pistachio shop where we sampled a lot of things and bought some delicacies was a great way to end our day before we embarked the boat back to Athens. I definitely recommend this tour.

Pleasant tour of the island A bit long towards the end and we opted for an earlier ferry back. Excellent helpful tour guide Maria. Good driver and comfortable mini bus.
