Itinerario

Passaggio senza sosta

35th Anniversary vineyard tour

Very leisurely paced and fun and knowledgeable driver/guide Nenand! We really enjoyed the oysters in Mali Ston and the nice couple that we toured with.

Had a really lovely drive...

Had a really lovely drive through the peninsula and visited three wineries. Our guide Boris was friendly and gave us background on the history and cultures of the area/cities. The drive was also so beautiful

Lovely wine tasting tour with scenic views

We took this tour on Sunday 17th May, and had Matko as our deiver/guide. Matko spoke perfect english having lived in Dublin for 10 years and explained a lot about the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia generally. Our trip initially went to the lovely small town of Ston, which has a strong wall built around it expanding right up the hill. You can walk the walls for which the cost of the ticket is €10 per adult, but be prepared that the wall does rise quite steeply and is fairly narrow, but ok for most people if you take your time. Part of the wall was vlocked off due to repairs takubg place, which meant if you wanted to walk nearly all the walls, you needed to walk up to approx halfway, nearly back down again, and then back up again (although you can exit when coming down if you prefer, or have limited time). We left Ston and proceeded to 3no different wineries for wine tasting, where we had 3 different wines to taste at each. All the wines were very good although there was normally one based on the main local grape, Plavic Mali. The first winery we went to, Putnikic, had a museum, abd the guide shiwed us around before the wine tasting. The Edivo winery was a bit different to the other two insofar as some of their wines were aged in the bottle at a depth of 20m in the bay for 2 years (whilst the last winery also do this, it was for 1 year only). The bottles in the clay pots at Edvio were quite expensive, but would involve quite a bit of theatre when opening the bottle, as was shown on the CNN video, so appear to be unique. The last winery was Marlais Winery, which was run by a young local family since around 2013, and they have been continually expanding their range of wines and their vines. After we had finished at the wineries, Matko kindly offered to take us down to a lovely bar at Mali (little) Ston to an oyster bar for us to try out sone, as we had never had them before. We had 3 each of the fresh oysters (their oyster farm being effectively right next door to the restaurant) and grilled oysters. I preferred the grilled oysters, but my partner preffered the fresh oysters. We then got taken back to our hotel The overall tour took approx 8hrs including the extra stop at Mali Ston. Matko was a lovely chap who couldn't do enough for you. We would definitely recommend this tour, even if you don't do the extra stop.

Highly recommended

Fantastic day out- highly recommended. Boris was a great guide. The three wineries each had something different about them. Our favourite was the Matusko winery- beautiful setting with a fantastic cellar. The wines were also delicious. Although not part of the tour, we also mentionned oysters and Boris was happy to stop off to Mali Ston for some on the way back.

Nice but hungry

Nice guide driver. Beautiful and nice wine tastings. However, 8 hours without food and just some crackers was pretty tough.

Very satisfied.

We were the only two guests, but thank you for hosting the event. It was a very satisfying tour, covering everything from the must-see wineries to hidden wineries and local gourmet spots. Recommended for those staying in Dubrovnik.

Cancelled the night before

Tour operator cancelled late the night before because they didn’t have enough people. Gave us no forewarning, and ruined our plans. Only option was to ‘upgrade to a private tour for £250 extra’. I understand that low turnout might mean an operator might need to cancel, but they did not communicate in the days leading up to the tour and let us know, which would have given us much more time to plan something else.
