What an excellent way to spend a day! Stephan was such a gracious tour guide, educating us on history and making sure we knew what we were about to see! The castle is breathtaking - a must see. The cave with the train ride was so fun! Amazing what nature does underground! Literally another world!!
This is a great tour… The cave is stunning and very beautiful. The cave tour lasts approximately 90 minutes which includes the 20 minute train ride in and out. Once inside you will walk approximately 1.5 Km and many sections of the path are very steep (uphill and downhill slopes). The walking part of the tour is guided with audio in several languages. Unfortunately , we found the audio difficult to hear at times. Make sure you bring a coat. The cave temperature remains at 10C (50F) throughout the year. The castle was very interesting and guests are provided with a self-guided audio tour available in many different languages. The information in the audio guide was excellent. Visiting the castle involves climbing many many stairs. Some of the stairways are very steep and the steps can be uneven in a few places. Contrary to the description, this is NOT a wheelchair accessible tour.
Stunning views from the castle and postman’s cave is beautiful! However, my husband and I were traveling with my elderly parents and this tour requires a lot of walking on inclines, declines and uneven terrain and poor lighting in the cave. Our fitness watch clocked 7,000 steps total. Several people outside of our group struggled to complete the amount of walking required. This outing should be advertised as vigorous, not as an electric train ride through the mountain. You will ride the train for a few minutes at the beginning, then you will walk approximately 5,000 steps, and then you get back on the train for a few minutes. Both landmarks are beautiful and worth seeing but you need to be relatively fit to complete the amount of walking required. Our tour guide Mia was fabulous! She shared a lot of information with us about the Slovenian culture! Highly recommend!
Wonderful trip! Wish we had more time in both locations so we could have gone into the museums/aquarium associated with them. There was no time built in for eating or shopping. Our guide, Tadej, was full of knowledge about his country, its history, geography, economy, and culture, spoke great English, and welcomed questions with a sense of humor. We’ve been in many castles in different countries in Europe, but this one was stunning and unique. The caves were the same. Our tour started late, robbing us of valuable time to eat, shop, use the bathroom or look into a museum, but that wasn’t Viator’s fault. The driver was in place 40 minutes before the meeting time, which was clearly communicated. Directions to the meeting place were clear. We took lots of pictures and videos to show the grands!
Definitely a lot of walking, but worth the visit. Castle was amazing. Cave were beautiful. Tour guide was awesome!
Great tour with the right timing. We visited the castle, the driver was waiting for us at the exit who then took us to the caves and then drive us back to the base. We relaxed being able to enjoy an experience that with public transport would have been impossible. Applause also goes to the boy, very young, who was super patient and very good at driving. Good!
Flawless service. It would probably not be possible to carry out these visits individually in such a short time. Just a possible delay to the schedule, if the customs officers (as on that day) overzealously check the identity of passengers...;-)
The caves are beautiful, suggestive and well organized. The route starts and ends with the train and on foot you walk for about 40 minutes so they are also suitable for children. At the entrance they give audio guides. Outside there is a small park (next to the parking lot) where you can have a picnic in the shade. The real surprise was the castle: ‘embedded’ in the rock is really very suggestive. The interior is quite sparse and there are not many furnishings because the environment is damp and they have not reached us. Here too they give the audio guide that tells the story of the castle, how they lived and the stories of those who lived there, in particular Erasmus of Predjama
The Caves are fantastic, never seen anything like it. Excellent organization, do not be afraid of the line, because at the fixed times everyone enters. I recommend to buy your tickets online before departure, with the audio guide (you will be the first on the train). Duration: one and a half hours, of which about one hour on foot with a guide. The Castle is unique is fantastic, inside the rocky mountain and inside rooms and floors shared between caves and rooms. Many steps to climb, including some in narrow corridors. Worth it is impressive.
The castle in the rock is worth visiting, amazement at the ingenuity of the human being. The caves are beautiful but expensive, personally I appreciated much more the caves of San cazano
