Entra nell'antica città di Penjikent, un tempo fiorente centro lungo la Grande Via della Seta. Immergiti nella ricca storia dei Sogdiani, un'antica civiltà che prosperò dal V all'VIII secolo d.C. Esplora le rovine dell'antica Panjakent e osserva i resti di un'epoca passata. Visita al mausoleo di Muhammad Bashoro è un monumento architettonico in Tagikistan (Mazar-i-Sharif) (XI-XII secolo). Nel 1342-43 furono costruiti nell'impasto un grande santuario ad arco profondo e piccole stanze nell'angolo, nonché una serie di corridoi. L'antica Panjakent si trova vicino all'attuale Panjakent e rappresenta un monumento unico dell'alto medioevo. Nei secoli V-VIII era la città più orientale della Sogdiana Sarazm è il primo sito patrimonio dell'umanità in Tagikistan. Si tratta di un insediamento con una storia di cinquemila e mezzo anni. Il palazzo ben conservato e gli edifici religiosi, gli edifici pubblici e residenziali hanno un grande valore storico e culturale.

A est di Panjakent, su una strada fuori dall'autostrada principale, troverai il Mausoleo di Mukhammad Bashoro in un piccolo villaggio chiamato Mazari Sharif. Fu costruito qui intorno all'XI o al XII secolo in onore dello studioso islamico Mukhammad Bashoro da cui prende il nome, che era un esperto di "khadises".
L'antica Panjakent fu fondata qui già nel V secolo a.C. come parte della civiltà sogdiana. Fu però nel V secolo d.C. che cominciò a fiorire davvero. A quel punto la città sarebbe cresciuta in modo significativo, coprendo gran parte dell’area elevata in cui sto vagando. Ci sarebbero stati templi, fortezze e grandi palazzi per i residenti più ricchi.
Il mercato di Panjakent è vivace e mi sento come se fossi stato catturato da una marea di donne vestite a fiori con il velo, trascinate dal loro movimento attraverso il cancello decorato nel sito. La corsa mattutina è in corso e, in tutto il mercato, i sacchetti di plastica si riempiono di frutta e verdura, noci e dolci
Questo elegante museo a un piano, con le sue colonne doriche bianche e la raffinata esposizione floreale, assegna una stanza al suo omonimo, Abu Abdullah Rudaki (858–941), il "padre della poesia persiana". Il museo è tuttavia più interessante per l'esposizione di tessuti e costumi, gli affreschi rinvenuti nell'antica Penjikent e gli strumenti neolitici provenienti dalla vicina Sarazm.
La cosa più significativa da vedere nei pressi di Panjakent è Sarazm, resti di una città ancora più antica di quella qui fondata dai Sogdiani. Sarazm fu fondata intorno al 3500 a.C. ed è molto probabilmente la città più antica dell'Asia centrale. Le persone qui divennero esperte nell'agricoltura e nella produzione di beni per il commercio, quindi divenne un centro importante e ricco della regione.

Parvina was a great guide. She greeted me and listened to what I wanted. She was very informative, best part was stopping on side of the road to eat 3 types of mulberries growing wild. All the sights were perfect and having a chat with the Sheikh while being treated to fresh yogurt, bread and tea was perfect. The drivers in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were great. BRING PATIENCE because the border crossing is on foot and takes some time 50 minutes in and 35 minutes out. Otherwise a wonderful day trip in perfect weather I would do again with friends.
Sarazm, a proto urban Bronze Age city site. 5 to 6 thousand years old. A UNESCO site that marks the development of settlements in Central Asia. It was the first stop and very interesting. A great day trip to Panjakent from Samarkand. The Mazari-Sharif mausoleum was also an interesting stop. Farooq, the guide for the day was great.

We were hesitant to book this tour initially due to the higher cost and low amount of reviews, but we were so happy we ended up booking it! Dont let any of that stuff stop you from booking this tour, it is definitely worth it. Everything was so well organized and everything is covered for you throughout the entire trip. The driver takes you to the Uzbek side of the border, you walk through immigration, and your guide meets you right at the gate on the Tajik side, super easy and seamless process. The tour is amazing and covers all bases. It is a great introductory trip to Tajikistan and you get to get feel for the hospitality, food, history, and culture. We enjoyed our time so much we are planning another trip to central asia so we can travel Tajikistan fully. Our guide Shamsiddin and our driver from the Uzbek side were absolutely amazing, they made our experience a 10/10. I really wish i had written down the name of our driver, he was one of my favorite people ive gotten to meet on my travels, he was an absolute legend. If you have a free day get your passport stamped and take this trip!
