Il nostro viaggio inizia con una sosta a Bylis, una delle più importanti antiche città illiriche in Albania, fondata nel IV secolo a.C. Posizionata strategicamente sulla cima di una collina, Bylis divenne in seguito un importante centro urbano durante il periodo romano, con resti di mura cittadine, teatri ed edifici pubblici visibili ancora oggi. Al di là della sua storia, Bylis offre una delle viste panoramiche più mozzafiato dell'Albania meridionale, con vista sulla valle del fiume Vjosa e sulle colline circostanti. Questo belvedere offre un'eccellente introduzione alla regione e una prima tappa perfetta prima di continuare il nostro viaggio verso Gjirokastër, patrimonio dell'UNESCO.
Arrivo a Gjirokastër – Sito Patrimonio Mondiale dell’UNESCO Proseguiamo poi verso Gjirokastër, una delle mete culturali più importanti dell’Albania e sito patrimonio mondiale dell’UNESCO. Gjirokastër si è guadagnata lo status di patrimonio dell'UNESCO grazie alla sua architettura ottomana eccezionalmente ben conservata, alle case in pietra con tetti in ardesia e al suo ruolo di esempio vivente di città storica dei Balcani che ha mantenuto il suo carattere originale per secoli.
Piazza principale di Gjirokastra Arriva a Gjirokastra ed esplora Piazza Cerciz Topulli, dal nome del patriota albanese del XIX secolo. Risalente al XVII secolo, questo centro dell'epoca ottomana era un centro di commercio, incontri sociali e vita familiare. Oggi, le sue strade di ciottoli, i vivaci negozi e le storie locali offrono un ricco scorcio sulla vibrante storia e cultura della città.
Fortezza di Gjirokastra – La corona della città Cammina attraverso il vivace Vecchio Bazar per raggiungere la Fortezza di Gjirokastra, arroccata in cima alla prima collina di insediamento della città. Immersa nella leggenda della principessa Argjiro, la fortezza, ristrutturata nel XIX secolo, è servita da roccaforte e prigione nel corso dei secoli. Oggi, offre una ricca storia e viste panoramiche sulle strade collinari di Gjirokastra.

Amazing tour where you really have time to explore the areas and get to know more about the history. The guide Xhuljano was very knowledgeable and told us interesting facts about the area.
We had a great time visiting the Nivica Canyons and the Waterfall. Gjirokastra was an museum city indeed . A beautiful combination of historical sites and wonderful nature in just one day
Guillio was an excellent tour guide. He is from the Gjirokaster area originally so gave us really interesting insight into what it was like growing up there and what family life was like. He is very knowledgeable about history and provided an interesting tour of the castle and the Gjirokaster bazaar. We had a good lunch in a local restaurant sampling local specialties before heading to the Blue Eye. It was quite a long drive to/from Gjirokaster but Guillio made it seem much shorter chatting away too us.

Would 1000% recommend local friends Albania. Their planning, local in depth knowledge and patience is commendable. Skerdi and Albie were extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They were willing to answer all questions, take us to the best places, even made us hear local songs and took us to good restaurant!

The boy who accompanied us was very attentive, but he was not a professional guide and could not give us much historical information during the visit. Despite what is stated, the car was old and did not have air conditioning. The trip became long and uncomfortable.
