The castle was huge and in great condition for touring! It will feel like you step back into medieval times. Gdansk was more beautiful than Copenhagen. So much history to learn about and wonderful stores and restaurants. It is a must see city in Poland. So beautiful. Our guide Wojtek made the trip so special. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and he answered all our questions and made our tour so much fun. He also has a Volvo S80 (for home village tours), S90 and a Mercedes V-class for touring. We did not do a home tour, but if you want him to research your heritage he goes above and beyond to learn about your family members who used to live in Poland- he even walks around the small towns your family member lived in, knocking on doors and talking to local townspeople to get more information about your loved ones.
A very long day. The castle was very worth the visit. The meeting point afterwards was confusing. Lunch at a milk bar was fun. Gdansk not worth the trip- very crowded, and no audio supplementation so unless I was walking right next to the guide I couldn’t hear anything. No real time for any sites. Didn’t even get a glimpse of the Baltic.
Castle was well done with audio tape but tiring. Gdansk is pretty city that sells a lot of amber. Driver was very good and answered all of our questions.
Wotjek was our guide for a 10 hour day, from Warsaw to Gdansk with a side trip to the fortress at Malbork. All of the trip was informative and entertaining. Wotjek was very knowledgeable, sociable, a great conversationalist and never in a hurry, allowing us enough time to see and learn all we wanted. The day went by very quickly as we were always engaged and talking. We were very fortunate to have him as a guide and I would strongly recommend him.
Our driver Sébastien was great getting us there and back safely. Malbork was interesting and lots of stairs to climb. Michael our tour guide in Gdansk was great and gave us a wonderful history of the city.
To be honest, I almost did not do this tour because of the cost. However *I am so glad I did* as it turned out to be one of the highlights of my 2-weeks in Poland! I signed up for a daytrip and got a master class in Polish history. As informative as Voitec was, he was also very friendly and easy to understand and talk to. Malbork Castle and Gdansk are must sees for any visit to Poland. The only downside, it is a very long drive from Warsaw to Gdansk and makes for a long day-- but it is definitely 100% worth it.
We had a great trip to the city of Gdańsk and nearby Malbork Castle, an amazing large brick structure full of history. It took a little over three hours driving each way, but the driver made the trip very pleasant, who took care of every details, from stops for coffee to tickets for castle. We are also grateful to the Gdańsk tour guide who’s very friendly and knowledgeable of the city, and the driver who accommodated our extra needs, such as a different pickup location and a suburban monument to visit. It’s highly recommended if you need a one-day tour of Gdańsk from Warsaw.
Great day trip from Warsaw. Thanks to Jesper from AB Poland Travel for setting everything up for us. Getting to see Malbork Castle (the largest castle in the world) was quite the sight! Following that with a traditional Polish lunch and tour of Gdansk was for sure a trip highlight. We hope to make it back to Gdansk one day to spend even more time.
The private tour was excellent. Jacek our drinker and guide for the day was very nice and made and accommodated our requests. Our guide in Gdansk, Mickey was fantastic. Ver knowledgeable and made sure we maximized our time. Marlbork is a must see. So much history.
