Itinerario
Iniziamo il nostro tour di Riyadh visitando il principale custode del patrimonio e della cultura nazionale saudita, il Museo Nazionale. Oggi è un luogo di apprendimento e scoperta che ospita una collezione unica di manufatti e copre l'intera storia della penisola arabica fino all'era moderna.
Dopo il Museo Nazionale, proseguiamo verso il vicino Palazzo Murrabba che era la residenza reale dove il re Abdulaziz ospitò la sua corte. Il palazzo prende il nome dalla sua forma quadrata di 40 per 40 metri ed è oggi uno dei maggiori musei della città.
Adiacente al Palazzo Murabba, un edificio moderno ospita una collezione di oggetti personali del re Abdulaziz che visiteremo brevemente. Questi luoghi sono al centro della nascita della nazione saudita.
visiteremo il Forte Masmak che si trova a pochi passi dal Vecchio Souq e la cui importanza è legata alla creazione del 3° Regno Saudita, quello moderno in cui viviamo. Il palazzo fortificato fu costruito durante il regno di Abdullah bin Rashid nel anno 1895 dC per servire come guarnigione militare per l'esercito di Abdullah bin Rashid.
ci dirigeremo verso la famosa Kingdom Tower e il suo Sky Bridge per vedere Riyadh da un punto panoramico a quasi 300 metri sopra la città.

Tour guide was just a driver. Hardly any info on the city. He was good at drop off & pick up. We hardly knew much about Riyadh at end of the day.

Moosa was nice and friendly but bad luck all around as the fortress was closed -he didn’t know- the Souq hasn’t much to offer, the king tower inaccessible till 4 pm (tour ended already at lunch time) and to make up the lost time I invited Moosa to join me for lunch which he refused. Ending up me having lunch by myself with a guide sitting in his car outside. He wasn’t hungry but even joining for a drink he couldn’t, disappointing day and the tour operator just drives you to places not really participates. On top of that I paid for 2 as there’s no option paying for just one person.

The guide is taking you to several sights of interest. They will not walk inside of the sights with me. So, they are more of a driver than a guide in the traditional sense. However, it’s a great way to get to see places of relevance in Riyadh. I enjoyed the tour and my conversations in the car.

We were picked up at the hotel on time, which is not a given with the traffic. Visiting the market and the fortress is interesting, although there is not much going on in the market. The museum is made exciting, but the midday meal is a bit of a bust, bland rice and half a chicken, two sauces with it... You can do better than that. Last we visit the Skybridge and enjoy the great view.

The sites were spectacular. I highly recommend this tour especially with a small group. The open market was disappointing.
