I have to review this as 2 parts. The tour itself, driver and guide were excellent. The guys took excellent care of us and worked hard to ensure that we had an enjoyable day. I would rate this part as 5 star. The admin part was rather less good. The tour was booked as a private tour for 4 people, so you can imagine our surprise when we stopped at a hotel and a total stranger hopped into the car to join our tour. This was after it had taken about an hour to find the car to start the tour. We were due to be picked up in port from our cruise ship dock. Eventually we found the car waiting at the port gate, some 30 minutes walk from the dock, through a busy working commercial port, on an extremely hot and humid morning. Seems the organiser didn't apply for a port entry permit in time, despite me making the booking in October. So, pick up was chaotic and we didn't get a private tour. Emmanuel (seemed to be the organiser) agreed to give me a partial refund. I'm still waiting for that.
They NEVER showed up for the tour and never communicated a cancelation. Very Disappointed. THERE really is nothing more to say. I went through Viator because I thought that any companies that they would recommend to their customers were already reviewed and was part of the Viator's umbrella because they were a legitimate company, in high regard.
Thank you so much for the city tour today. I had a great time and learned a lot about Dar es Salaam which was the aim of this day. So sorry for your accident Emmanuel but fortunately you feel a bit better now. Thanks again and all the best!
Thank you so much for the review we are thrilled you had a great time with us.

Thank you guide and team from Enroute Africa. your hospitality and knowledge has made our time worthwhile in Dar es salaam
We appreciate your review and we are mostly happy that you had a knowledgeable tour with us
Actually the rating is a ZERO! The tour guide was a NO SHOW and after numerous attempts to phone the contact (number was not in service) we contacted Viator for a refund. The company had asked for names and passport numbers prior to our arrival so I know they had us on “their books” for the tour. What a huge disappointment but thankfully Viator was very receptive. We luckily found another tour company at the cruise ship terminal called Dove Adventures and had a great tour with Anna. Our day turned out fine even with the original tour being a complete bust!
I give them a ZERO. They were a NO SHOW! We had paid in advance for a private full day tour of Dar es Salaam. After waiting over 30 minutes and attempting 3 phone calls which stated the phone number was not in service we went for a tour with another tour operator. We are so thankful for Dove Adventures who included us on one of their small group (12 person) full day. En Route Tours may be a scam since they had our payment, had asked for our passport numbers and then were a NO SHOW and no communication!! I called the credit card company who is refunding my money.

This was a fantastic tour of Dar es Salaam, which included most of the best local sites. Erick was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and attentive. Booking and payment was easy, and communication with the company was good via Whatsapp. I would recommend this tour company whole-heartedly.
