La prima tappa è la famosa città acquatica di Tongli, nota per i suoi ponti, fiumi e antichi complessi di case. È diviso in sette isole intersecate da 15 canali. A causa del paesaggio, quasi tutti gli edifici della città si trovano sul lungomare. Dopo aver esplorato la città sull'acqua, guida verso la città di Suzhou e pranza locale prima della prossima destinazione. Goditi alcuni snack o specialità locali e riposati.
Poi per visitare Lion Grove Garden, è uno dei quattro giardini più famosi e rappresentativi dell'antico stile classico nella città di Suzhou, caratterizzato principalmente dalle sue rocce e dai giardini rocciosi in riva al lago. Il nome del giardino deriva dalla forma di queste rocce, che si dice assomiglino ai leoni.
Esplora Shantang Street, nota anche come Seven Mile Shantang, è un'antica strada pedonale lungo il fiume molto popolare tra i turisti. Questo vecchio settore stradale è lungo solo 360 metri circa, ma ha la reputazione di "miniatura della vecchia Suzhou" e di "finestra della cultura Jiangsu". Era un centro di merci, dove i commercianti conducevano affari e la comunità organizzava attività popolari.

We were so privileged to have another outing with Henry our tour guide from Shanghai through Catherine Lu Tours. Henry is a passionate and extremely knowledgeable guide who is so friendly and outgoing. He kept us all intrigued on both days he took us out. His tours are personalized, professional and are a true cultural immersion in history and Chinese culture. It was a true pleasure to meet him and have us feel at home while traveling. We visited a beautiful garden in Suzhou and then the ancient water town of Tongli. There was Chinese opera being performed as we arrived and the ambience is authentic and local, a stroll back in time. We’d highly recommend it.

Had a lovely time at Tongli Water Town with tour guide Benny. A car drove me to and from Tongli from my hotel and Benny met me upon arrival for an in-depth, relaxed tour of the town. He took me through museums and the popular streets, as well as areas with zero tourists. He also found an authentic place for lunch and ordered us some local Suzhou dishes. Highly recommend!
