Dale from Stretchy Pants took us on a walking tour of the SF wharf area to Pier 39. We started in Ghirardelli Square and enjoyed some delicious hot chocolate, seafood tacos, chowder and donuts along the way. We also got to learn about the history of the waterfront and see the pier sea lions which was super fun. He is super patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
Great tour with Marcy who was a really engaging guide. We enjoyed not only the food, but her great knowledge of the area and the small museums we visited which provided visuals and brought the history alive. Highly recommended.
Great tour! Definitely bring your Stretchy Pants as you will eat so much food, but with a good amount of walking and learning about SF’s dangerous Barbary Coast past, Alcatraz, the Golden Gare Bridge, etc. Though Pier 39 is touristy, I felt like we cut through that there and learned about some of its gritty history and community feel. I’m a vegetarian and my partner has a peanut allergy and though this tour is ideal for seafood lovers, the guide kept checking in and accommodated us well.
I did the Fisherman's Wharf Tour. I'm a San Francisco native, but I learned so many different new and interesting things about my city that I didn't even know of. The food was great, and our tour guide, Jacob, was fantastic and kept the whole group engaged throughout the entire tour. Highly recommended!
Fisherman's Wharf is a neighborhood and popular tourist attraction in San Francisco, California, United States. It roughly encompasses the northern waterfront area of San Francisco from Ghirardelli Square or Van Ness Avenue east to Pier 35 or Kearny Street. The F Market streetcar runs through the area, the Powell / Hyde cable car used to line runs to Aquatic Park, at the edge of Fisherman's Wharf, and the Powell / Mason cable car line runs a few blocks away in the past.
I joined the Stretchy Pants Food Tour through Fisherman's Wharf with friends. The tour was led by Marcy. She was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing more than just great spots to eat, but explaining the history of the area as well. As a recent transplant to the Bay Area, I was so excited to be a tourist in my own city and learn about some hidden gems at the Wharf. My favorite part of the tour was stopping by a family-owned seafood market and looking at the fresh Dungeness crab and then to a local honey retailer to sample local nectar - truly a can't miss! You should definitely bring your stretchy pants for this one - Absolute blast!
It's always great to be a tourist in your own city, especially with folks that really put in the time to show you things you didn't realize were there. My wife and I had such an amazing time on the Fisherman's Wharf food tour! Our tour guide, Marcy was great at showing us around the various sites and yummy food! Would certainly recommend for folks that are brand new to SF or are looking into the not so touristy tourist destinations in the City!
My partner and I took this tour, and really enjoyed learning about the history of this area while also eating a lot of delicious food! Even though we've been living in SF for over five years, we enjoyed taking this tour through a more tourist-y area and finding hidden, worthwhile gems along the way. A non-food highlight was walking around the Musee Mecanique and dropping quarters into old-timey machines, and a food highlight was trying out some of the foods at Pier 39 (which I typically have avoided, because I don't know what's overpriced/geared towards tourists vs. actually good food). We left the tour feeling really satisfied with all the food we got to eat, and also with a newfound appreciation for an area of the city we don't often visit.
My husband and I had such an amazing time on the Fisherman's Wharf food tour! Not only did we get to try some quintessential SF dishes, we learned a lot about the history of Wharf and Pier 39. Marcy was an excellent guide and we would highly recommend this fun and educational tour to anyone visiting San Francisco or even folks who want to be a tourist in their own city!
Great time with Stretchy Pants visiting Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. Learned so much about the history of San Francisco, chocolate, sourdough bread, cioppino, chowder and so much more. We got to see a lot of hidden gems in 3 hours and I enjoyed the storytelling immensely. Left full and in good spirits. Would definitely go on another one with them.
