La nostra escursione da Fes a Volubilis Inizia a prendervi al vostro hotel o riad a Fez, il tempo che sarebbe adatto a voi. per un'ora di guida a ovest verso la città imperiale di Meknes. Guidando attraverso la pianura vedrete vaste superfici di vigneti che producono vino di buona qualità, gran parte del quale viene esportato in Francia. Avrai fino a tre ore a Meknes per esplorare la città, compresi i souk espansivi, gli affascinanti siti storici e per pranzare. Moulay Ismail fece di Meknes la capitale del Marocco durante il suo regno intorno al 1700; il suo mausoleo e la Rouah, le sue scuderie per oltre 12.000 cavalli, insieme a Place el-Hedim, la piazza pedonale centrale nella Medina, meritano una visita. Meknes a Moulay Idriss Dopo pranzo il nostro viaggio vi porterà 30 km a nord verso l'insediamento collinare di Moulay Idriss. La città è uno dei luoghi spirituali più importanti del paese e un luogo di pellegrinaggio in quanto è il sito della tomba di Moulay Idriss, un importante santo marocchino alla fine dell'VIII secolo e un pronipote del profeta Maometto. La città è spesso bypassata da turisti non musulmani, il cui incontro più ravvicinato è spesso una fotografia scattata dalla vicina Volubilis. L'accesso al santuario è limitato, ma la miriade di stradine strette che conducono a punti panoramici sulla valle verso Volubilis meritano una breve sosta. Moulay Idriss a Volubilis e Fez Lasciando Moulay Idriss per i brevi 4 km di auto al sito Patrimonio dell'Umanità di Volubilis, ci sono una serie di punti panoramici per scattare fotografie della città. Excellent experience; we took a day trip from Fez to Volubilis, Moulay Idriss, and in the afternoon to Meknès. Moustapha is a great professional, a very good driver, attentive and kind; we would definitely do it again!

Great! You get to tailor the experience to yourself, do what you want and leave when you want. So much better than a big group tour.
Firstly - great job Aziz - you were a great driver and very nice company. Although a little more money than the equivalent group tours to Volubilis, Moulay Idriss and Meknes, having a private tour for just the 3 of us was great as it allowed us to spend as long or as little time at each stop as we wanted and then move on. In the end the trip took just short of 8 hours. We went to Volubilis first (about 1.5 hour drive) which was fascinating and we took a good long time to look around it all (we didn't bother with a guide but I had downloaded info on it - note a lot of the boards by key buildings giving information have very little info or have been defaced). Then we went to Moulay Idriss which looks much better from a distance - once you're in it it's not much to speak of at all. We just took a few photos from a view point and then asked Aziz to go straight to Meknes. In Meknes we looked around the small medina, had a little wander around the main square, (it was raining so it didn't look it's best I'm sure) had a spot of lunch and then went to the famous mausoleum which opened at 3pm. This was flashy and shiny but not very characterful or interesting at all and it's really done in 10 minutes - To me it was not worth the trip there unless you've religious reasons to go. Then back to Fes. Our driver Aziz was fantastic - we felt really safe with him driving and he took no risks. He was at the pick up point (the blue gate) bang on time. On the road he told us about a few noteworthy things (remember he is not a guide) and he was a very pleasant, chilled chap to talk to with good English. We were really pleased that he was our driver. I would recommend the trip to anyone - it was really good value for the 3 of us and it gave us the freedom we wanted. But if a friend asked for advice I would tell them to only bother going to Volubulis and then return back to Fes!

Volubilis is interesting but there are no signs if you plan to do it by yourself. Meknes has a very small medina and a tomb. Overall, not a very big attraction.
