Uno dei siti più incredibili legati al muro di Berlino e alla scena della tragica perdita e delle brillanti fughe. Il memoriale stesso è lungo più di 1 km e comprende l'unica sezione completa conservata del Muro di Berlino e della Striscia della Morte.
Il più famoso di tutti i Check Point è stato teatro di molte fughe fallite e riuscite e anche di un'incredibile faccia a faccia tra le forze americane e quelle sovietiche nell'autunno del 1961.
La sezione sulla Niederkirchnerstrasse è l'unico frammento superstite del muro in questa parte di Berlino. Si trova proprio accanto all'ex quartier generale della Luftwaffe, utilizzato durante il periodo della Germania dell'Est come casa dei ministeri. È anche il sito di una delle fughe più incredibili di Berlino Ovest.
Visitate ed eventualmente salite l'ultima delle torri di avvistamento "BT - variante" che circondavano Berlino Ovest. Una rara sopravvivenza salvata grazie a un'iniziativa privata.

Irish Paul was amazing. He went into a lot of detail at each location that was clear and easy to understand. Very friendly, approachable and helpful. Shout out to his mum too who likes to read his reviews 😂 definitely recommend!
We had Irish Paul as our guide for the Cold War tour. It was by far the best tour we did whilst in Berlin and we did a few. He was a fantastic guide, so knowledgeable and fun to be with. The 3 hours flew by. Would definitely book with him again. Thank you!
Excellent tour around central Berlin, hopping on and off public transport, Lots of photos of what the areas looked like during the cold war and interesting stories from the period.
This was a really a great tour. Our guide was very informative and answered questions throughout. The tour covered many sites from the Berlin Wall to Check Point Charlie and much more.
Paul was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. However some of the details on the Viator website didn't play out on the tour. Some stops were missed off and the tour didn't end where it had started. In addition, one piece of 'additional information' stated a maximum of 15 participants and another said 21. No mention of train tickets needing to be purchased either. Viator really needs to ensure that the tour details match the tour itself. Having said this, it was a fascinating tour - we learnt so much. Recommended.
When booking through Viator, we were lead to believe this was a bike tour. Another couple on the same tour had the same thought, so it was not just us. So note, this is a walking tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and we saw some good sites, but not as much if we would have been on bikes. A big portion of the tour was walking from location to location with not much time left for exploring the areas we stopped at.
Paul, the guide, was extremely knowledgeable and made the experience personable. He was conscientious of all the guests and quite respectful about a difficult subject
I booked this tour for four people for 24/7/26 using the Viator platform. The pre-tour information I received via the app was very comprehensive and the meeting point was easy to locate. Our guide, Paul Holhurst, was brilliant. He was very passionate about Berlin and its cold war history. He added a huge amount of colour and context to each of the places we visited sharing facts, stories, pictures and personal insights. His enthusiasm and knowledge brought the tour to life and was so interesting. The content of the tour was fascinating - my personal highlights were the "Ghost Stations" we visited, the Palace of Tears, and the, very effective, Berlin Wall Memorial at, the fascinating, Bernauerstrasse. You could, of course, visit these privately but our guide Paul absolutely transformed the experience. No hesitation in recommending this tour - all four of us enjoyed it immensely.
