Communication about pickup and allergies was excellent. Alfio, our guide, was brilliant. He showed us around a wonderful medieval town then on to two wineries. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Sicilian culture and wine production. The wineries were equally impressive - knowledgeable, relaxed and friendly. The wine tasting was fabulous and the anti-pasti and lunch were outrageously good! Fantastic day excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
Don’t waste your time with this tour. I tried booking twice. The first time trip advisor notified me that my reservation was declined, with no explanation. I messaged the tour operator asking what happened and they said Viator did not give them a reason but the tour was still available on the day I booked. I rebooked, and paid up front this time. I saw the admission fee for two came in as a pending charge to my credit card this time. I got a notification a few days later from trip advisor that the reservation was once again declined. This time the reason given was the tour was not operating that day. However, the tour was still being offered for that on trip advisor. When I messaged the operator asking for an explanation, I never got a reply. Don’t waste your time trying to book this tour as the operators are too busy playing games rather than running a professional operation. Just book a different one or go to Gambino winery on your own.
The tour exceeded what i expected, first we were brought to a little town that had excellent views of mount etna and full of history about the Sicilians in ww2. The driver/tour guide talked us through what would be happening at the vineyards. the first vineyard we were brought around by this lovely woman she explained the wine making process and showed us the equipment they use and talked about how the soil and altitude creates different tastes. then we sat down and tried 4 different wines as she explained how they made all of them. we also received bread and gluten free bread during this. we ended up buying two bottles before leaving. next our driver met us again and brought us to the second vineyard. it was more of a restaurant experience rather than a tour but we ate 4 courses of food with different wines with all of them and our waiter was excellent. then the driver picked us up again and brought us back to our hotel. for a group of 6 it was only €840 and we all thought it was incredibly worth it for that experience. I definitely recommend! we even had a beer only drinker get into wine! the timing was also perfect i think it was a good pace throughout nothing ever felt rushed
This was one tour I was looking forward to and it did not disappoint. The 2 wineries we visited were outstanding. Had lunch at the 2nd one and quantity and quality of what was served was spot on. Roberto was an incredible guide and information shared throughout the trip was great learning and fun. Wine, food, and Mt. Etna…it was a perfect day!
It was good overall, and I would say you should go but there is room for improvement. We didn't know they came in a boat to the beach to get you, and didn't know where to wait or the name of the boat, but we figured it out, obviously. Get the beach bus from Taormina and get off at first stop. The Lido del Rey Sole is right there, use that entrance to the beach, walk straight down. Or have a coffee first, it's nice in there. We could have been doing with an overview of what the day would pan out like. How many stops, how many wines, timings etc, but we went with the flow. The guys were lovely, and answered questions, but could have been a liitle more attentive. The stops were great though. And the wines were fabulous. You should defo do this trip. Only 7 of us on it. Good value for money. Beware, they will still go no matter the weather. We were very lucky with ours, but the next trip, not so much.
Really enjoyed the tour, our guide Roberto was really informative and friendly. The vineyards were interesting and the wine was great, the food that accompanied the drinks was of a high standard.
We and two other couples had a fantastic experience touring some amazing Sicilian villages and two wineries with our guide Roberto . We learnt a lot had fun , laughed , drunk some wine and even sung some Queen in the mini bus on the way home . Roberto is very engaging calm and explains so much we would highly recommend this tour as the number 1 to go on .
Ricardo was amazing. We got picked up around the corner from our hotel. He took us to see a castle, a church, made sure we stopped so we could get great pics of Mt Etna and gave us lots of history. We then went to two wineries for tasting and backgrounds of the wineries themselves and had lunch at one of them. Highly recommend this trip.
We booked this tour directly with the tour operator Etna People. The company was very responsive to my questions and easy to book with. The wine tour is a great way to visit some Etna wineries. Our leader was Tony and he was very informative about the area and also entertaining. He has lots of knowledge of the area. The tour starts in a small medieval town which provides great views of the area. You then visit two wineries. The first one provided a tour of the vineyard followed by a wine tasting. At the second winery we had a wonderful four course lunch with wine pairings. It was delicious meal. The tour group was small which was also nice. Highly recommend.
A fantastic tour from Taormina. Our guide and driver Tony, was friendly, knowledgeable, erudite, and spoke English very well. Our group consisted of My wife and I, and a couple from Canada who were great company on our trip. In lovely sunny weather, Tony drove us first to the small village of Castiglione di Sicilia, very charming, and with a fantastic view of Etna., then into Etna National Park, to our first vineyard and wine tasting. Here we had a selection of three wines and bread and olive oil, all very good, and a tour of the vineyard. We were not rushed at all. Then on to our second vineyard where we had a three course lunch, plus bread and olive oil, with a wine to accompany each course. Again all the wines were very good, and the food was excellent. You could buy the wines at both vineyards. We then returned to Taormina. Throughout Tony spoke about Sicily, Etna, the land and the local produce, including, of course, wine and winemaking. His knowledge and passion for these shone through. He was excellent. It was a really wonderful, relaxed and enjoyable trip. We would absolutely recommend it.
