My teenage sons were excited to play the djembe & marimba in Africa as one plays percussion back home in Australia. Jason was such a good instructor (which my husband & I needed haha) so it was a lot of fun for the whole family. The song sounded beautiful at the end. Set at beautiful Penduka, it was very peaceful. The transfer to and from Windhoek made it very convenient. Thanks all!
This drum lesson is unforgettable for multiple reasons. It was set at Penduka, a women's sanctuary, beautiful place. The drum instructor Jason was a lot of fun, to experience African drum from.
From pick up to drop off, every moment was awesome. My adult daughter and I had wanted to visit Penduka and see the crafts, so this was a great combo experience. Our guide, Lubowski, was knowledgeable and provided a lot of context, from our drive through Katutura, to the tour of the facilities. Jason, our drumming instructor, was incredibly lovely, generous, and fun! He taught us a lot and we had lots of good laughs (we have never drummed!). Our only (small) disappointment in the whole experience was that the women were not in the studios creating since we went on a weekend. To get the full experience, I’d recommend visiting on a weekend.
Slick guided us cheerful through the drumming session, creating a feeling of togetherness. With his enthusiasm he brought the scenery of this beautiful Country and culture closer to us.
