Galle è una delle città più popolose dello Sri Lanka. Questo paradiso sulla spiaggia nel sud-ovest dell'isola è uno dei più famosi dell'intero paese per il suo significato storico. Fu il porto principale dell'isola fino all'arrivo dei portoghesi nel XVI secolo. Il faro di Galle si trova all'interno del famoso Forte di Galle. È costruito sette metri sopra la strada sui bastioni. Questa è la stazione luminosa più antica dello Sri Lanka, risalente al 1848, ma il faro originale fu distrutto da un incendio nel 1934. Fu ricostruito all'altezza attuale di 26 m. La stazione della luce si trova all'interno delle mura dell'antico forte di Galle, patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO e nota attrazione turistica, che lo rende il faro più visitato del paese. Il National Maritime Museum di Galle è pieno zeppo di meraviglie nautiche e marine, estratte dal mare e esposte qui. Galle è sempre stato un porto importante, visitato da navi e commercianti di tutto il mondo per diversi millenni. Come tale non è sfuggito alle grinfie dei commercianti olandesi che hanno messo il profitto prima di tutto.
La Galle Clock Tower è un monumento in pietra alto quattro piani risalente alla fine del XIX secolo. Fu costruito all'interno dei bastioni del Forte di Galle sul sito del precedente corpo di guardia, affacciato su uno dei tre bastioni del forte. Mentre l'antica torre dell'orologio è un grande monumento da fotografare, ci vorranno alcune abili manovre a causa dell'angolazione estrema nelle vicinanze. Quindi potrebbe essere meglio fotografarlo dal Moon Bastion su cui si affaccia la torre. (combina con il forte di Galle) Alla fine del tour, tornerai all'alloggio pieno di bei ricordi
Originariamente costruito nel 1640, l'attuale edificio risale al 1752. Il suo pavimento è pavimentato con lapidi provenienti da cimiteri olandesi, mentre altre caratteristiche impressionanti includono l'organo e un imponente pulpito in legno di calamandro e sormontato da un grande baldacchino esagonale. Un tempo ippodromo per scommesse coloniali britanniche, il campo da cricket di Galle è stato fondato oltre 100 anni fa. Dal 1998 è utilizzato per partite internazionali; nel 2010 è stato il luogo della leggendaria ultima apparizione del grande giocatore di bocce dello Sri Lanka, Muttiah Muralitharan. C'è una grande prospettiva del terreno dal Sun Bastion a sud.
- Situato a Galle, Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, come suggerisce il nome, è un centro commerciale situato in un edificio coloniale splendidamente restaurato originariamente costruito durante l'occupazione olandese. So much too see, so many stops. Turtla Rescue center, beach views, mangrove forest boat tour. Obligitory sales stops at Cinnamon Island and Gem Stone mine. Galle Fort with the famous jumpers (Nest thing on the tour) and thrn the stilt fishermen. I eluld reverse the order though as the stilt fishermen is late in the day.

This was a great trip with a brilliant driver and our guide Naveen for whom nothing was too much trouble - we had a full tour of the Dutch fort which was intriguing after a brilliant cruise on the river seeing lots of wildlife and having a foot bath with the fishes - the turtle hatchery was really informative and great fun

1) extremely rough driving 2) not spors were not clean like bentota beach. there were other beaches which were cleaner 3) quality of vehicle not great for charges

We had a great tour with Krish, who was a great guide and fun to talk to during the long rides. We saw the sea turtles, toured the river, and had about an hour in Galle. Made it back to Colombo around 7 after starting around 8:45.

I had an amazing experience - it was a private tour and I need to thank to the company for very fast and accurate communication. The driver took me to all the places included in the program - we spent almost 12 hours on the road visiting different places and it was amazing. I do recommend to have a water safari at Madu river. Kosgoda sea turtles conservation project is the other thing you should know.

One needs to carefully read the itinerary. it is full of additional optional offers that are not cheap. it adds up and the total trip cost is not too high. driving in a busy towns does not add to the experience. in fact driving in general is crazy FOR the PASSANGER. the only highlight for me was the Modu Safari. The Galle fort has no uniqueness other than its history. I would pick the stops in the itinerary that i want to go. Tell the driver to get there through the highway. the operator & driver executed flawlessly but the trip content does not worth it for me.
