Descrizione

Absolutely Stunning!!!

My partner and two friends ventured on this journey to Lannannalaugar and as other reviews state, it is a long day but entirely worth it. This trip provided scenery that restored my faith in humanity. Our guide, Sveni, was knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. We had a tire blow out on the way home and because the company had the proper tools in the van we were back on our way within 30minutes. I strongly encourage anyone visiting island to take this trip!!!

An exceptional day!!

This was one of my most favorite adventures in Iceland. Michel was a wonderful guide, informative and friendly. We did a fairly easy 3 mile hike, the landscape changed so much during that short period. All absolutely beautiful. There was a natural hot spring option and so, when in Iceland… I would recommend a quick hot shower (more of a rinse really) afterwards for 1100kr. It was a long drive there and back; however, on the way back we made several stops to visit some of the most unique and beautiful waterfalls. Was a truly brilliant day!

The breathtaking valley of Thor

As an alternative to Landmannalaugur (roads not yet open on June 16), we made a tour to Þórsmörk. A beautiful area. Through dirt roads and through rivers we came to the valley of Thor. A very beautiful valley, flanked by glaciers. Especially from the Valahnjúkur Viewpoint the view is breathtaking. The gorges and cave we visited were impressive and the Seljalandsfoss a soaking wet surprise. Our guide Thomas told a lot about the area and was very helpful. Highly recommended!

Because some roads...

Because some roads to Landmannalaugar were still closed due to earlier snowfall, we did another tour through / to Thórsmörk. With Thomas as guide it was a really special and beautiful tour with a cool hike.

Lots of fun!

As of 10th June 2026 the road to Landmannalaugar has not opened yet so the company took us on an alternative trip to Thórsmörk. There were a total of 4 landmark stops (plus 2 bathroom breaks), we got to do 2 short hikes including climbing up a mountain with a gorgeous view of the valley. Our guide Tomasz was very friendly and knowledgeable, he shared interesting stories about Iceland and the places we visited. The bus was very comfortable and crossing the shallow rivers was a really fun experience :)

Fabulous experience

Landmannalaugar - not Landmannalaugar Not what we were expecting but best day of our entire trip. Thank you to our guides Einar and Luongo. We had a wonderful time exploring this area with you. Einar - your pride as a multi-generation Icelander was apparent from the beginning and gave me the confidence that we had made a good choice We were booked on the Monday June 1st offering of Landmannalaugar Hike and the Valley of Tears. On Sunday afternoon we received an email advising that the F roads were not open yet. Looks like the GetYourGuide message was posted earlier that morning. Heads up to check the app directly rather than rely on email The notice advised that unless conditions changed we would be going to Þórsmörk (or "Thorsmork"). The note said the area is stunning but was shy on details of the activity. There was no mention of option for refund. I was disappointed as I had exchanged messages with the company two days earlier asking if the tour would go ahead. They advised that they were monitoring and would update over the weekend. I had assumed that if the tour couldn’t go to Landmannalaugar that the tour would be canceled. If you read carefully they advise that the itinerary is tentative. Turns out most people had cancelled. Not sure how late they canceled- or if they received refunds. But their loss was our gain. Out of 21 seats we had 5 passengers. And in addition to our guide Einar we had a ghost host (Luongo) who was learning the route. So we were truly spoiled. Einar set the mood right away by telling us he liked this area better. He is multi-generation Icelandic and his comment came across as heartfelt. The reason there was no itinerary was because the area changes each winter and he would plan the itinerary on the fly. Once we started on the F roads he showed his skill as a driver. The gravel roads were very rough in places and we had multiple river crossings. Einar started us at a short slot canyon to a hidden cave with a stream running through. The area is small and there were other groups pulling in. Einar politely kept us on pace to reach the area before the other groups noting there would be time for pictures after. Next stop was a hiking club area and a stop on the Lavavegur trail. Einar and Luongo helped us balance on rocks across the multiple fingers of the river to the base of a mountain where we were treated to a 2 hour return hike up the mountain. Wonderful expansive views from the top. One of our fellow travellers is afraid of heights. Einar and Luongo made sure she knew she could stop and wait for our return at any time. Throughout the trip they always encouraged us to be comfortable stopping if we were uncomfortable with our abilities. On the return drive Einar treated us to a special stop. We had a more technical hike in to a gorgeous waterfall. Einar and Luongo provided all the assistance we needed. Would not have been possible if the tour had been full. On the return drive Einar asked if we wanted to stop at xxx waterfall. This was very generous of both Einar and Luongo as it added at least a half hour to an already long day I would offer these suggestions to GlaciersansSafaris You could improve on your communications to help with customer satisfaction and reduce cancellations 1. I messaged you through GetYourGuide in early April asking maximum number of passengers and a few other details. First - I recommend you include max group size in your description. Second - I never received a reply. Might have cancer just on this issue 2. When I contacted you on the Friday I would have appreciated if you had advised of possible substitution at that point. 3. When you made the substitution it would have been helpful to explain that we would still have F roads, river crossings, waterfalls and hiking. I realize now that the itinerary was dependant on the conditions once we arrived. And some of the stops were determined by our group size. But the generic description of the area was a let down and I almost cancelled.

Thorsmork Guided tour

The trek itinerary changed due to road closures. That being said. The trek we experienced was incredible. We visited less well known parts of Iceland and came away filled with awe and appreciation for the country and it's history. Our guide. Einar was well versed in history and the geology of the area. That was especially interesting for pur group. I have not seen Landmannalaugar but think this was a fabulous tour on it's own. Pick up and drop off were seamless, the vehicle was comfortable and the mountain hike took mt breath away, in different ways. Loved it!
