Escursione in montagna SugarLoaf - Rio de Janeiro di Rio Eco Trip

Descrizione

Didi from Rio Extreme was fantastic! The hike and climb are quite strenuous and you are pretty much on a cliff face the whole time but Didi made us feel safe and comfortable. After our trip, Didi even took us to a gorgeous area to have a drink and watch the sunset. Would recommend.
My partner and I booked this last minute for our last day in Rio, and it was easily the best thing we did! We have both done some bouldering but have no outdoor climbing experience and it was perfectly manageable. It is probably 80% steep hiking/scrambling and 20% proper climbing. Our guides Eduardo and Jessie were great, friendly and very experienced and looked after us well. For the climbing sections they provided a second rope for you to use to climb with if you need, the last part of the last climbing section was the only part where we needed it. We felt safe the whole time, the views were incredible the whole way up and if you enjoy outdoor activities I cannot recommend it enough
Hi, thank for the review. Next time in Rio let's plan a different route?! it's always awesome get out the beaten track! Looking forward to see you guys. Have a nice trip. Best regards,
The hike is pretty steep but the sweaty arrival to the top when all other tourists queued for 2 hours for their cable car is definitely worth it! ;) One of the members of our group had no prior climbing experience and managed very well, using the second rope the guide set up to use if necessary. One other members of our group had 5b/5c weekly bouldering experience and was not bored either.
Good to hear you guys enjoyed the climb
We started our tour at the "red" beach in Urca, next to where the cable car to sugar loaf leaves. Then you see this massive rock and just can't imagine that you'll hike and climb right onto the top of this famous sightseeing icon, from the wild and green backside. But our guide was confident, so were we...First it is an easy walk along the coastline, but once your getting to the rear (seaward) side it gets quite steeper - make sure your shoes have good grip. As you climb up you'll get more and more breathtaking views, really amazing. After around 2/3 you need to climb the rock for around 10-15m, our guide (I strongly recommend to take an experienced guide on this trail!!!) had all the equipment required, i.e. ropes, safety/harness, helmet, rope ladder etc) so even "non-climbers" will be able to continue. But better don't look down if you're afraid of heights :-)...Once this most difficult part of the trip is passed, you'll continue a steep path until you finally find yourself on top of sugar loaf with its stunning views, amidst chattering tourist with their selfiesticks. What an unreal contrast after this quiet and unique trail. Definitly a memorable experience, one of my top favourites in Rio!
Thank you for the compliment Jan, it's been a pleasure again!!
