Year # 8 of choosing Blue Ridge Hiking Company! Had three fantastic days with Bev and Traci hiking in the Smokies , Mt Pisgah and Lovers Leap trail! Everyone has always been very knowledgeable, nice and encouraging especially when the hiking gets tough. 10/10 recommend and will be back again this year!

Blue Ridge Hiking Company is a 5-Star operation. They diligently plan each hike, watch the weather to make sure that you are safe, have excellent guides that are trained for any thing that might arise. And Bev is the absolute best guide and hiking companion I've ever had. I cannot recommend her more, and I assure you that she goes out of her way to make sure that you are comfortable, safe and happy.

This is the second 3-full-day hiking trip I have done with BRH & a phenomenal guide Beverly MacDowell! She is a gift to those who want to experience nature & learn more to enrich their life. Bev commented with us well in advance to determine our goals & any limitations. She’s a natural teacher who made us all feel at ease & she championed us. I gained more confidence in my hiking skills, so much so that I am planning a 5 mile hike by myself at a local state park. Before this experience I would not have considered doing it by myself. I will help organize a ladies hike again. I highly recommend BMK & Bev. It was an experience with lasting impact & memories 😊

Last month I completed my 2nd hiking trip in Asheville (over the last three years) with Blue Ridge Hiking company. I was hiking with my lady friends from across the country. Our guide was Beverly McDowell. Bev took us out on three, one-day hikes on some of the most beautiful trails in the country. Every hike was an amazing experience. Bev is an excellent guide. She studied the weather, she brought us snacks and meals, she taught us about the wildflowers, she/we shared stories, and we laughed a lot! She took very care of us and I would choose to work with her again and again! Although she doesn't know this, I describe her to my friends back home as my friend-guide :). If you get a chance to hike with Bev and Blue Ridge Hiking Company, I highly recommend it!

Bev, Mel, and Amy took a large group (21) of us (ages 1-75) on a beautiful hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway. So organized and so much fun. We picnicked on Lunch Rock which was large enough for our group to enjoy the views! Bev was kind enough to bring walking sticks, oranges, and peanut butter cups! Thank you Bev, Mel, and Amy!

We had a wonderful experience hiking with Amy. She was so knowledgeable, and tailored our hike perfectly. She made sure we were equipped with the right supplies, food, water, and handled our transportation. I can’t recommend Amy and Blue Ridge Hiking enough!

I've previously backpacked with Bev. I booked a full day and half day to celebrate 64. She brought all the extras to make it special!

Had a fantastic time again hiking with Blue Ridge Hiking Company! I did two 1/2 day and two full day trips exploring the Smokie Mountains and around Ashville! Bev, Lizzy & Kate are super nice & knowledgable!! Highly recommend and will choose to hike with them again

This was my first hiking trip inside the interior of North Carolina’s beautiful stretch of mountains! We didn’t know what to expect nor what to ask for during our full day hike on last Friday and our half day hike last Saturday! Here comes our lovely guide BEV! Experienced hiker and local resident with a sample of 6 mountains over our visit!! She asked enough questions and figured out quite a challenging climb with views that were FANTASTIC!! We climbed up Sam Knob, through Buck Springs lodge, up Black Balsam and sat under a waterfall at Log Hollow Falls on Friday. She had this thing managed for the half day when things got very technical up Mt. Mitchell (twice…we ran it) then made our way over to Mt. Craig and TOM which was totally a calf burner and back bender up, down and over the rocks!!!! Early birthday trip for me. BEST GIFT EVER from PAL Danita and MASTER mountain guide BEV!! I would recommend BEV for this BAD ASS HIKE!!! She can talk you through it!!

Bev was a true professional. She knows the trails inside and out. Bev took us to six different waterfalls provided us with snacks a sandwich, drinks, and made sure we were comfortable all day. Bev made it the perfect hiking day with my son. I will definitely call Bev again for my next private hiking trip.
