Entroterra di Gallipoli e Dintorni: Escursione di un Giorno in Bici

Gallipoli e il suo entroterra conservano ancora tracce della ricchezza che il commercio dell’olio di lampada generò per secoli. Prima tappa ad Alezio per una degustazione in un caseificio, poi proseguiamo per Tuglie per lo stupefacente Museo della Radio (tutti gli oggetti, telegrafi compresi, sono ancora funzionanti!) o per il Museo della Civiltà Contadina. Tornando verso la costa, nella Riserva Naturale di Porto Selvaggio facciamo un pranzo al sacco (non incluso) all’ombra della pineta e, per chi ne ha voglia, una nuotata rinfrescante nelle fresche acque sorgive. Sulla via del ritorno a Gallipoli ci fermiamo a Santa Caterina per assaggiare uno dei migliori gelati della regione (sono specializzati in “pistacchi salati”, “mandorle e fichi” e “crema di cioccolato”). Arriviamo a Gallipoli entro il tramonto.

Iniziamo qui e finiamo qui. Gallipoli è un paese di pescatori, che ha avuto il suo splendore grazie all'esportazione di olio d'oliva che nel medioevo non veniva venduto per scopi alimentari ma per un altro motivo e vi faremo scoprire quale!
Ci fermeremo in questo paesino per visitare il frantoio ipogeo del XVII secolo.
Lungo strade secondarie, tra ulivi e costruzioni locali in pietra a secco (trulli e pajare), raggiungeremo Galatone con il suo imponente castello normanno, la Chiesa del Crocifisso - capolavoro del barocco leccese - e il palazzo nobiliare.
Porto Selvaggio, è un parco naturale ben conservato con acqua limpida dove è impossibile non tuffarsi! Ci sono sorgenti di acqua sorgiva che si mescolano con l'acqua di mare. Ci fermiamo per un bagno e una pausa pranzo.
Un tuffo nella cultura messapica attraverso antichi sepolcri e una esposizione museale molto curata

Beautiful experience, distances too long for me as I am not athletic.

Excellent six days' cycling from Lecce with a circular inland and along coast to Gallipoli. GPS navigation very good and lots of opportunities to experience the culture of Puglia as well as take a rest over lunch or enjoy a swim. We are both over seventy ,and though challenging at times , with reasonable level of fitness, we managed the average of 40 miles approx cycling per day . Accommodation throughout was excellent, attentive hosts on hand, plus an excellent briefing before we set out. Salento Bici Tours provided excellent bikes, advice and support throughout our trip.

Unforgettable day with a group of friends for my bachelor party. We wanted to do some activities rather than the usual relaxation by the sea and couldn't have a better idea. The tour is very easy, all flat and most of the time spread over almost deserted roads. The bikes were brand new and kept very well, comfortable even the bags available to put inside any object. The guide Giulia is fantastic, very nice, connoisseur of the place and attentive manager of the group. The stop at the DonnAnna estate will remain in my heart forever, I expected something "commercial" for the average tourist instead I had to change my mind and we all enjoyed an incredible Processing from morning until evening
