Durante questo tour a piedi, non dimentichiamo di visitare un paio di vecchi mulini a vento dall'esterno, che venivano usati per pompare l'acqua per bonificare la terra. Alcuni di questi sono il mulino a vento Broekdijk e il mulino a vento Boterhuis. Il lavoro dei mulini a vento ha fatto in modo che l'Olanda non fosse allagata dall'acqua di mare. Questa vecchia tecnica può essere appresa molto semplicemente una volta visto come funziona un mulino a vento. Inoltre passiamo davanti a un campo da golf dove la bellezza naturale è abbondantemente visibile.
Anche questa è una delle attrazioni che incontriamo durante il nostro tour. Il mulino a vento della città di Leida, situato alla periferia della città, veniva utilizzato anche per pompare acqua e bonificare i terreni. Inoltre è stato utilizzato in un'altra fase per fare il grano. Visitiamo questo mulino a vento anche dall'esterno e trascorriamo circa 10-15 minuti.
All'inizio di questo tour a piedi camminiamo verso il fiume Zijl attraverso un quartiere tranquillo. Durante questa parte vedrai l'architettura delle tipiche case e appartamenti olandesi. Il fiume Zijl è un fiume di medie dimensioni che scorre attraverso il sud e l'ovest dell'Olanda attraverso i Polder. Ha un paesaggio pittoresco dove le persone possono godersi tutto l'anno. Camminiamo lungo questo fiume verso i polder e i mulini a vento dove scatteremo alcune foto.
Il tour a piedi si concluderà portando una visita alla fattoria dei bambini nel distretto del lago. Qui vedi più animali da fattoria che non vedrai nel tuo paese d'origine. La guida ti riporterà infine al punto di partenza dove prenderai l'autobus o il tuo mezzo di trasporto per tornare. Il mulino a vento di Broekdijk è anche un pittoresco mulino a vento situato nel distretto di Merenwijk a Leida. Highly recommend this tour for nature and animal lovers. PJ is local to the area and provided some great background on the polders. He even brought a light breakfast to enjoy on our walk. Broekdijkmolen and the children's farm (which is surprisingly large, basically a zoo) were highlights.
Great walk in the park with a knowledgeable guide. Enjoyable easy pace well worth the time an effort. It was money and time well spent.

We enjoyed this walking tour of a calm lakeland area near Leiden which we would otherwise not have seen. PJ's communication before hand was very good, giving us clear instructions of how to get to the meeting point. Don't let the fact you have to travel to the start point put you off. It was an easy bus ride away and you just need to tap your credit/debit card at the start and end of the journey to pay for it. PJ explained very well to us how the windmills had worked in reclaiming the polder land. We were also able to gain a bit of an insight into the Dutch way of life. PJ also gave us some light refreshments. The walk was, of course, very flat and would be suitable for all ages. We really enjoyed the tour.

Pj is an affable and informative guide who knows the land and its history quite well. The land we walked was quite scenic, and I came away with a full understanding of how the polders came about and their importance today. The break for a cup of tea as well timed also. Recommend!

We had a very pleasant walk in the good company of our guide PJ. We walked along a river, saw a mill and a farm. We had explanations about the Netherlands and our environment (the polders and others). In conclusion, a soothing and instructive walk.

It was an amazing walk in the evening with the amazing guide Punartha who was very friendly and gave us lot of explanations.
