Dragonstone, Mundaka e Guernica da Bilbao

Tour guild was very knowledgeable and amazing! Wear good hiking shoes. Thankful I booked the tour. The restaurant we went to for lunch had the best meat lasagna.

Communication poor I went to meeting point on time and no one was there. No one contacted me on morning of.

The San Juan/Game of Thrones site was amazing but be prepared for a strenuous hike. If you have mobility issues you might just opt for the viewpoint stop closer to the top of the mountain. The 241 steps to the chapel pales in comparison to the walk down and back UP 🥵 the mountain leading to those steps at the beginning of the peninsula. Mundaka was a nice lunch break where you can order the very dry local (alcohol) apple cider and sample some pinxtos. Finally, the last stop in Guernica was a sobering education of the horrors of war that was so intensely painted by Pablo Picasso. We were shown a tiled replica of the painting outside the town square. To conclude, our guide Jose was informative, friendly, and helped keep the whole tour efficient and organized. The bus was very new — quite comfortable with excellent air conditioning. All in all a great day trip from Bilbao.

Great tour, mainly because of the tour guide Asier. He gave us great information during the whole tour (in English and Spanish), all was well organized and even helped me with my travel arrangements after the tour. I did the "From Bilbao: Gaztelugatxe, Mundaka, and Guernica Tour". Totally recommended unless you have issues walking. Still Asier gave other walk options for those that couldn't walk all the way to Gaztelugatxe (Dragonstone). Beautiful hike. Asier came with us all the way but he will let you go by yourself on your own rhythm. Loved the tour and tour guide! thanks!

Incredible tour and experience. Our guide Jose was excellent and provided the tour in both English and Spanish. The climb was quite challenging so beware based on your abilities. You also had the option to do part or none of the climb and enjoy the views! Would highly recommend.

It was worth seeing these wonderful landscapes, although we could have spent more time in some places like Mundaka, where we barely had time to eat and leave running since the bus drops you off on the road before the town. I will not hire a bilingual excursion again since it became very tedious having to listen to the explanations in English and then in Spanish.

Arrived on Monday early in the morning. The nature is breathtaking, waves of the ocean providing the background noise, fresh breeze in the air. Nobodody around, not even at the entrance - seemingly you are free to enter (however I bought tickets in advance). We spent here around 2 hours just walking up and down, looking at this spectacular scene from different angles. The homepage is providing contradicting information, but here is some disclaimer: you cannot enter the chapel at any time. It is hardly open during the year. There is entry fee which you should pay, but.. There is parking if you come early, I did not see any parking device where you could pay. If you can only afford one thing whilst around Bilbao, then this is the place to visit. Beaches around: Bakioko hondartza is large, Bermeo is very small.

We had a wonderful tour with Asier, a local Basque guide who shared his extensive knowledge of the sites and of Basque history and culture with us. Gernika is a fascinating, sobering place and we were very glad to learn more about it. The hike to the top of Gaztelugatze was not as difficult as we had expected, but a reasonably steady climb. Because it was raining, some of the cobblestone steps were slippery, so if rain is in your forecast, be sure to wear shoes with good tread. If you can book your trip with Asier as your guide, do it - he's not only an excellent guide, but a great guy as well.
