The excursion was conducted well in terms of timing, number of people, and guide. The problem is that, in fact, we didn't spot anything. So we were rather disappointed.
We specifically chose this tour because it was advertised as a whale and dolphin watching experience. Unfortunately, it did not really feel like the crew were actively looking for wildlife. The boat mainly travelled to the island to drop off passengers and then returned. Even when something was spotted, we did not seem to slow down or stop for long enough to properly observe it. The scenery was beautiful, and the guide shared a lot of interesting historical information about the islands and the local wildlife. However, for people who, like me, are booking mainly for whale or dolphin watching, I would not recommend this tour. Perhaps we were simply unlucky that day, but the experience felt more like an island sightseeing and transport trip than a dedicated wildlife-watching tour.
One of my best experiences this year.Scenery and wildlife were second to none anywhere in the world. The whole experience was enhanced by a friendly and knowledgeable crew who had notable respect for our natural environment. Highly recommended!
A really great experience and a wonderful encounter with the sea & nature! We saw a whale, dolphins, seals, and many birds, not to mention the spectacular natural scenery. We were on the sea for four hours, which is unusual for "landlubbers." Very nice team! Sure, it is expensive, but maybe you can save on one or two church entrance fees instead :-). Our teenage children also thought it was great.
Guides were amazing We saw minke whales, dolphins under a bait ball, it was amazing
The tour was okay. We saw some dolphins. However, the tour also picked up and dropped off other tourists at an island. That took a long time. There were a lot of people on the boat, more than I was told.
Amazing experience! Rachel, John, Vincent and most of all Sula were brilliant guides. We seen lots of dolphins, seals and birds and had lots of really interesting conversations with the team. Would highly recommend!
Very knowledgeable guides. The boat tour is gorgeous: we saw different types of birds, seals, whales and dolphins and the guides told us about them and about the history of the neighbor islands. Would book again and highly recommend!
Really good trip. Spotted Minke whale and common dolphin pod. The commentary and local wildlife knowledge was exceptional. Seemed to be very sympathetic to the wildlife.
Booking was quick and easy with a good cancellation option, we booked the 1 hour peninsula tour for €22.00 pp but got a call the day before to ask if we wanted a free upgrade to the whale and dolphin tour. Gladly accepted of course. Our Guide was Dermot and very knowledgeable with years of tour experience and also very down to earth and chatty with some good stories of his experiences. The boat was called The Lady Laura, very clean with all safety equipment and instructions and a toilet on board. You can choose your own seating and you can also walk around, you’re not set to one spot. We spent 2 and a half hours at sea, Our skipper was intent on finding us whales and dolphins and steered carefully when Dolphins were present, he did an excellent job. It was an exhilarating experience that I’ll never forget, The scenery is mind blowing and the peace you feel onboard is soul cleansing. The dolphins were so friendly swimming alongside us. Thank you Dingle boat tours, We will return.
