Salernum fu fondata dai romani nel II secolo a.C. ma il periodo più importante per la città fu il medioevo. In questo periodo Salerno era una delle città più importanti del Mediterraneo, qui fu fondata la prima Scuola Medica del mondo intorno alla fine del IX secolo d.C. Insieme scopriremo la storia e l'architettura del medioevo con una visita alla Cattedrale di San Matteo, spettacolare esempio di architettura arabo-normanna. Questa chiesa contiene anche una bellissima cripta in stile barocco. Saremo inoltre lieti di darvi alcuni consigli su dove mangiare cibo locale e dove andare a bere un bicchiere di vino in luoghi autentici. Questo è un ottimo tour anche per un'introduzione e un orientamento di tutte le bellezze della costiera amalfitana, Paestum, isola di Capri, Pompei ecc.

In questo tour vedremo il centro storico di Salerno. Visiteremo i giardini pubblici, le piazze più importanti del centro storico (Piazza Sedile del Campo, Piazza Abate Conforti, Piazza Flavio Gioia), gli edifici lombardi e normanni, il complesso monumentale di San Pietro, la Cattedrale di San Matteo e il suo barocco cripta. Su richiesta è possibile visitare i giardini di Minerva, il castello medievale, il Museo Diocesano e il Museo Archeologico

Beautiful old city that is overlooked. Roberto is friendly and knowledgable. We learnt so much and it was fun for a few hours before dinner. The history is there if you go looking, but not commonly discussed . Not touristy at all, but enjoyable learning experience.
