Si trova nell'esclusivo quartiere di Recoleta, che deve il suo nome al fatto che vi si trovava il convento dei monaci Recolletti, a cui apparteneva anche la vicina Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pilar (il cimitero fu costruito nell'antico giardino dei monaci ). È la più visitata della città, per i suoi numerosi e imponenti mausolei e volte, appartenenti a molti dei principali protagonisti della storia argentina, come quella di Eva Perón (Evita), una delle tombe più popolari. Merita, altresì, una visita per il suo pregio architettonico, poiché è un campionario dei tempi in cui il paese era una potenza economica emergente e le principali famiglie della città facevano a gara per costruire splendidi pantheon. Molte delle volte e dei mausolei sono opera di importanti architetti e sono adornate con marmi e sculture; più di 90 volte sono state dichiarate Monumento Storico Nazionale.
L'Ateneo Grand Splendid è stato scelto dal quotidiano inglese The Guardian come la seconda libreria più importante al mondo. Eretto sull'antico cinema teatro Grand Splendid nel quartiere della Recoleta, conserva il suo antico splendore ed eleganza, con la cupola decorata con affreschi, le ringhiere originali e la decorazione intatta. Sul vecchio palco – con il sipario di velluto leggermente aperto – c'è un bar che invita a sedersi con un libro in mano. Puoi anche approfittare delle poltrone che si trovano su entrambi i lati della sala principale o sederti negli esclusivi box che fungono da piccole sale di lettura. Al piano interrato è presente un settore dedicato ai libri per ragazzi, mentre il piano superiore è dedicato a campionari ed esposizioni.
Questa imponente scultura alta 20 metri che domina la Piazza delle Nazioni Unite è stata donata alla Città di Buenos Aires dal suo autore, l'architetto argentino Eduardo Catalano. È realizzato in acciaio inossidabile e alluminio e pesa 18 tonnellate. È la prima scultura in movimento controllata da un sistema idraulico e da cellule fotoelettriche. L'opera è stata inaugurata il 13 aprile 2002. Il suo nome, "Floralis Generica", è un omaggio a tutti i fiori. È la proiezione di un sogno del suo creatore, quello di costruire una struttura di grandi dimensioni che rispecchi il dinamismo del nostro tempo.
All'interno del Parque 3 de Febrero, a Palermo, si trova il Rosedal, con una collezione di oltre 18.000 rose e un lago che lo circonda. Occupa uno spazio che apparteneva al quinto di Juan Manuel de Rosas, fino a quando fu sconfitto il 3 febbraio 1852 nella battaglia di Caseros. Il lavoro è iniziato con il paesaggista Carlos Thays, lo stesso che ha costruito, tra gli altri, l'Orto Botanico, il Parco Avellaneda e il Parco Lezama. Successivamente il suo discepolo Benito Carrasco lo terminò nel 1914. Ogni luglio, quando inizia la stagione della potatura, vicini e turisti si avvicinano ai giardinieri per ricevere fiori o talee da cui si possono riprodurre nuove specie. In questo modo in inverno i roseti fioriscono sani e forti per raggiungere il massimo punto di sviluppo in ottobre.
Circondato dal Bosco di Palermo, il Giardino Giapponese è un angolo di Buenos Aires che si innamora di chiunque lo visiti. Costruito nel 1967 in occasione della visita dell'imperatore del Giappone Akihito e di sua moglie Michiko, è il più grande giardino in stile giapponese fuori dal Giappone. Camminare circondati da bonsai, azalee, kokedama, orchidee e lanterne di cemento è un piacere indimenticabile.
Caminito è la via pedonale più famosa di Buenos Aires. È una delle attrazioni turistiche più popolari della città grazie alle sue case colorate e al suo profondo significato storico e culturale. Caminito si trova nel famoso quartiere di La Boca, sulla costa del fiume Riachuelo ea soli 400 metri da La Bombonera, lo stadio del Boca Juniors. Si tratta di una passeggiata pedonale curva lunga 150 metri dove si possono ammirare importanti opere artistiche.
È un grande mercato coperto situato nel quartiere di San Telmo. Nonostante conservi antiche botteghe di verdura e carne, oggi è una località turistica e ricca di antiquari. Le vecchie bancarelle di "quartiere" che si sono conservate per diversi decenni convivono con gli antiquari più recenti e affini, come il boom turistico di San Telmo. L'edificio comprende anche alcuni locali con ingresso indipendente dalla strada, tra cui fruttivendoli, negozi di liquori, un ristorante e due bar importanti: "San Pedro Telmo" e "La Coruña".1
È un palazzo situato di fronte a Plaza de Mayo che funge da sede del governo nazionale. Questo imponente edificio rosa occupa il luogo dove nel 1580 fu eretto il Forte di Buenos Aires. Fu residenza dei viceré spagnoli e in seguito ospitò, con alcune riforme, le autorità dei successivi governi nazionali. L'attuale edificio è il prodotto della fusione di due costruzioni precedenti: la sede presidenziale e il Palacio de Correos (all'angolo tra Hipólito Yrigoyen e Balcarce).
Ispirata alla Gran Vía di Madrid, l'Avenida de Mayo è una delle arterie più grandi e importanti di Buenos Aires. Attraversa la città da Plaza de Mayo con la Casa Rosada a un'estremità, all'edificio del Congresso Nazionale all'altra. Inaugurato ufficialmente nel 1894, vale la pena attraversarlo, perché è come fare un viaggio attraverso l'intera storia della città.

It was a pleasant tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He spoke good English and even took us to a leather good store which was unplanned. The tour lasted a little over 5 hours and we started earlier than schedule. We enjoyed experience and privacy of tour with more of a personalized experience.

We were only in Buenos Aires for a couple of days before a cruise, and wanted to maximize our time. After reviewing the awesome reviews and great pricing options for Depasseios tours, we opted to book the Discover Buenos Aires on a Private Full Day Tour with Guide through Viator. An hour or so before the tour, we received notification from the tour guide, Dario. We hit the 'tour guide' jackpot with Dario! He was cool, funny, courteous and extremely knowledgeable about a variety of subjects regarding Buenos Aires (e.g., Flowers, trees, history, food, etc.). Dario was eager and energetic to show us his city! If we ever visit again or receive tour recommendation inquiries about Buenos Aires, we will not hesitate to refer others to Depasseios tours (with the request for Dario as the tour guide!)! Dario picked us up at our hotel around 8:00am. Stop 1: Floralis Generica Arrived around 8:25am. Dario provided information about the sculpture/area and assisted us with taking some cool photos. Since we arrived early, we were able to avoid crowds. Left Stop 1 around 8:45am. Stop 2: El Rosedal Garden Arrived around 9:05am. Dario provided knowledge about the garden. We thoroughly enjoyed taking a leisurely walk around the area and taking time to literally "smell the roses." Left Stop 2 around 10:20am. Stop 3: Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar (Our Lady of Pillar Basilica) Note: We opted out of visiting Recoleta Cemetery (was able to get a glimpse of the cemetery from the car on the way to Stop 3). Arrived around 10:45am. Walked around the church and snapped a few photos. Note: If you have limited time, would research the Our Lady of Pillar Basilica prior to the tour to determine if you want to visit or bypass the stop. Left Stop 3 around 11:05am. Stop 4: El Ateneo Grand Splendid Arrived around 11:10am. El Ateneo was a cool stop (theatre that was converted into a huge bookstore). In addition to the books and music (options are in what appears to be the basement) for purchase, there is a Havanna Cafe (a chain throughout the city) and the Grand Splendid Experience (3rd floor, optional activity where admission fee is required). You can go to an upper level to take photos and/or browse through more books. We opted out of purchasing food from Havanna, and instead went to the convenience store beside the bookstore to get water and snacks. A blind man with an amazing voice was singing outside of the bookstore. If we did not have other stops on the tour, would have gladly stayed there and listened to him perform. Left Stop 4 around 11:55am. Stop 5: Casa Rosada (Pink House)/Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral Arrived around 12:15pm. We walked around the plaza and snapped photos. Walked over to the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral (only took a few minutes). We walked through the church and saw the (guarded) marble mausoleum of General José de San Martín. Left Stop 5 around 1:10pm (attempted to see the changing of the guards at 1:00pm, but there was a delay, so we left). Stop 6: Puerto Madero (quick photo stop) Arrived around 1:20pm. Took photos of the area and took in the sights. Left Stop 6 around 1:25pm. Stop 7: San Telmo Area/Parrilla La Brigada (last stop) Arrived around 1:45pm, which is when the tour ended. Earlier in the tour, we opted out of visiting Caminito (because we went the day before the tour). However, after eating at the recommended La Brigada restaurant, we wished that we'd revisited Caminito so that we could have eaten lunch at El Gran Paraíso (again). Our experience at La Brigada was underwhelming. While it may have been an isolated incident, the food quality and service didn’t match our expectations (e.g., Overcooked meat and neglectful waiter). Prior to dining at La Brigada, do your research on the restaurant and other dining options in the San Telmo area (e.g., At the market). Note: - All of the sites we visited were free and did not require admission fees. - For groups larger than 4, confirm vehicle capacity with the tour operator to ensure comfort. - Inquire if booking directly with the operator saves money. - Use the Depasseios itinerary as a guide and customize stops to fit your interests. If you have a tour guide as awesome as Dario, regardless of which sites are selected, you will be in for a treat as you explore Buenos Aires!

We were picked up from hotel and started our tour. The guide was very informative and drove well around the city showing us all the main sites. Just a note that the guide did not stick to the confirmed tour. So check before you start where you are visiting. One place was not visited. Felt like the guide was in a hurry. I had to remind her of where we were to visit at the end That said was good to see the city driven well.
