Attraversate Levadia e Arachova (famosa per i suoi luminosi tappeti multicolori) arrivate a Delfi. Visiterete uno dei siti archeologici più importanti della storia greca. Ai piedi del monte Parnassos, all'interno dell'angolo formato dalle rocce gemelle delle Fedriadi, si trova il santuario panellenico di Delfi, che aveva il più famoso Oracolo dell'antica Grecia. Delfi era considerata il centro del mondo. Secondo la mitologia, è qui che le due aquile inviate da Zeus dalle estremità dell'universo per trovare l'ombelico del mondo si incontrarono. Il santuario di Delfi, incastonato in un paesaggio spettacolare, è stato per molti secoli il centro culturale e religioso e simbolo di unità per il mondo ellenico e sede dei Giochi Pitici, i secondi giochi più importanti della Grecia dopo le Olimpiadi, che si svolgevano ogni quattro anni.
Situato nel sito archeologico di Delfi. Tra il VI e il IV secolo a.C., l'oracolo delfico, che era considerato il più affidabile, era al suo apice. Fu consegnato dalla Pizia, la sacerdotessa, e interpretato dai sacerdoti di Apollo. Città, governanti e individui comuni consultarono l'oracolo, esprimendo la loro gratitudine con grandi doni e diffondendo la sua fama in tutto il mondo. Si pensava che l'oracolo esistesse dalla notte dei tempi. In effetti, si credeva di aver predetto con successo gli eventi legati al cataclisma di Deukalion, alla spedizione dell’argonauta e alla guerra di Troia.
Visita del sito archeologico e del Museo dove si possono ammirare, tra gli altri tesori archeologici, la singolare statua bronzea del Carro dedicato ad Apollo da Polizalo, il tiranno di Gela, nel 478 a.C. quando vinse la corsa dei carri ai Giochi dei Pitui. Questa incomparabile statua è un esempio rappresentativo del “severo” stile attico, certamente opera di un grande artista.

First, decide carefully where you want to be picked up. From my neighborhood, Psyrri, it was an hour on bus before we even began the tour. Additionally it was very difficult to find food at that hour. I finally found some but the bus driver said, “No food on the bus.” Not a good start. Traffic was bad so I ended up being on the bus for 4 hours before reaching Delphi, instead of the expected 2 hours. Unbeknownst to me, the tour was bi-lingual (English/French). I didn’t sign up for that. In fact, I remember it specifically saying an English-speaking guide. It resulted in almost non-stop narration. First English and then rolling right in to French. I understand a bit of French, so it was very repetitive. Delphi was extremely hot, with dusty wind gusts. Part of the ruins were closed due to weather. I missed have of the tour because of the extreme heat. The museum was terrific, but the dual language narration was again a problem and didn’t leave much room for questions. The guide was warm and well-informed. The advertised “4-course meal” was abysmal. Food was not good. We were seated in an empty dining room at table for 4. One man had to eat by himself. The other 2 tables had people who had no common language. Awkward. The last stop at the ski-town was worthless. Most shops were closed. I was given incorrect directions to the view. I realize some of the problem were out of control of the tour group. But, for me, it as a thoroughly exhausting and disappointing day. Not how I wanted to spend my last day in Athens.
Great time, enjoyed the trip.
Anastasia was lovely. Very informative, very friendly and really knew her history. It was also a great way to see life outside of Athens. The countryside/mountains of Greece was beautiful.
Very organized. A nice way to travel without worrying about getting there on our own. Wonderful guide. So informative. It was super hot but Greece in the summer always is! For sure recommend!
Our tour to the Temple of Apollo in Delphi was absolutely incredible, all thanks to our fantastic guide, Xenia. She was exceptionally knowledgeable, weaving history and Greek mythology together in a way that truly made the ancient ruins come alive. Beyond her impressive depth of expertise, Xenia was incredibly helpful, attentive, and welcoming throughout the entire day, ensuring everyone had a seamless and memorable experience. If you are planning a trip to Delphi, we highly recommend booking with Xenia—she is an absolute gem and made our visit unforgettable!
Pick up and drop off were on time. Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Tour was excellent, and it included lunch
This was a well organized trip. We got picked up on time and taken to another location where we waited for others to join us. We rode in a full size bus but there wasn’t many of us. Our guide gave us a lot of information on the way. We had a snack stop about 2/3 into the trip. The ride was nice. I didn’t realize that it was going to be in two languages so she would speak in English and then again in French. Then when we arrived to Delphi, she took us into the site. It was quite hot by then and speaking in two languages became a bit of an issue because it meant that every time she stopped to talk it took twice as long to deliver the information. We weren’t given enough time to see the whole site. We had to rush to the top to see the stadium then rush back to get to the museum in time for her tour of the museum. Every part of this was good, it was just the timing because of the double description of everything that was tiring. Then we opted out of the lunch and were left in town to find food. We found a cute place but had to rush for a pick up which they were 10 minutes late for. It would have been nice to have a little more time in town. Then we made a quick photo stop outside the city to get a picture- you don’t stop in town like the itinerary suggests. Then back to Athens with one more stop for a bathroom break.
This was an awesome experience, and we highly recommend this tour if you want to get out of Athens, and learn something new! The guide was great.
This was a very long trip but the drive to Delphi was wonderful, alot of historical sights to see along the way which our guide made sure to point out. Delphi was breath taking. The climb up to the temple of Apollo, ancient theater and other sights is a must see. Only downside was that the museum tour felt slightly rushed and we didn't get alot of time to view all the exhibits. The four course meal afterwards was delious.
Delphi is amazing; there's such a sense of weightiness from the waves of myth (Gaia, Pythia, Apollo, Christianity) and its importance in the ancient world. It was therefore such a disappointment that our "licensed guide" did not cover Delphi in adequate detail. They did not even mention the Omphalos! Furthermore, after a brief walk to The Temple of Apollo, the guide decided that the tour was done. The amphitheater and stadium at Delphi are magnificent, and when the group said they wanted to visit, the guide gave us about thirty minutes to cover all of that. We had to racewalk to the top and had no time to take it in before we had to return tot he meeting spot. And then... the guide scheduled less than an hour at the museum... one could spend hours just with the Charioteer alone! I hope this is just a quirk of this one particular guide. Usually guides offer their services, but don't get upset if people want to explore the museum on their own, right? The timing on this tour seemed totally off. We ended up spending upwards of 30 minutes at rest stops and had nearly 1.5 hours for lunch, but were rushed through the stars of the show (the ruins and the museum) in less time. As an Australian member of the group complained, one doesn't fly halfway across the world to be told there's no time to see the amphitheater and stadium at Delphi!
