Don’t be fooled, this is one of the best tequila/mezcal tastings you’ll find. Fernando was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and knows many of the local distillers. We tested 6 amazing tequilas and mezcals. If you’re lucky, you’ll even get some unexpected entertainment from the hostel resident. Ha. Viva Mexico!
We did not feel like doing a full day tequila tasting tour with all of the non-related commercial activities associated with it so we signed up for this two-hour educational (and fun) experience with super guide and tequila expert, Fernando Rodriguez. While sampling a number of tequila and mezcal brands, we learned about the history, manufacture and distribution of tequila as well as learning how to best enjoy it. Fernando definitely knows his stuff when it comes to all of this and I am glad he led our tour.
First off Fernando goes above and beyond with communication and making sure you have all the details you need. He is extremely well versed in the proper way to identify quality tequila and mezcals. We learned the proper way to taste like an expert. We sampled three kinds of tequila and three mezcals and his knowledge is deep and I really felt this tour was a great value as he shared the history of each brand. He is well versed in how tequila and mezcals are made and it was fascinating. He speaks perfect English and is kind and funny. The pacing was perfect and I really felt his passion for these special brands. This is a tour not to be missed. The location of the hostel is great as it was also near other attractions of interest to tourists. He made sure to answer all questions and was generous with his time. The experience lasted two hours and I highly recommend this tour!
Fernando ROCKS! Our Guide through this Tequila filled Journey was FANTASTIC! Fernando demonstrated how to PROPERLY pour, smell, observe body and the unique taste of tequilas and mezcal!
