Innanzitutto, avremo un viaggio di 30 minuti da Bayeux a Omaha Beach. Inizierai il giorno in cui sono sbarcate la 1a e la 29a divisione di fanteria statunitense. Scoprirai il sito unico di Pointe du Hoc. Segui le orme del 2° battaglione di ranger degli Stati Uniti guidato dal famoso tenente colonnello James E. Rudder che ha scalato le scogliere per distruggere una batteria di cannoni tedeschi che minacciava l'intera operazione di sbarco degli Stati Uniti. Crateri di bombe, bunker, panchine, vieni a vedere questo eccezionale campo di battaglia. Dopo aver visitato Pointe du Hoc, guideremo per 30 minuti fino a Sainte-Mère-Eglise.
Nel cuore dell'operazione Airborne, visiterai la cittadina di Sainte-Mère-Eglise. Fu la prima città ad essere catturata dai paracadutisti americani. Uno di loro è rimasto bloccato sul campanile della chiesa durante quella notte. La tua guida condividerà con te i dettagli di questa operazione cruciale e molte storie di questi uomini coraggiosi. Lasceremo quindi Sainte-Mère-Eglise e guideremo per 20 minuti fino a Utah Beach.
A Utah Beach la tua guida ti racconterà come la 4a divisione di fanteria ha violato con successo le difese tedesche. La prima ondata è stata guidata dal generale di brigata Theodore Roosevelt Jr che è atterrato su quella spiaggia alle 6:30. Alla fine è stato insignito della Medaglia d'Onore. Phenomenal tour with the BEST guide. Paul had not only an expansive knowledge of WWII but also of the region, other significant cultural events, and current happenings. He was vey engaging and made the tour feel totally informational. We felt comfortable asking any and all questions. 150% would take this tour again.
I highly recommend the Dday beaches tour with Paul. Paul was very knowledgeable about WWII history and his great storytelling really added to our appreciation and understanding of what happened at the various sites. All the stops were very interesting, and especially loved the Airborne Museum and Pointe du hoc. The van was also very convenient and comfortable.
The tour format and pace was wonderful. Long day, but well worth it. Bryce was an exceptional tour guide. He was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about D Day history. My only suggestion was to offer head phones for the van to help with clarity in the back seats.
