Una visita alla Medina di Essaouira offre un affascinante paesaggio colorato dallo stile marocchino-portoghese, alla Grande Moschea, terrazze, caffè e il souk. Questa antica città portoghese è stata dichiarata patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO in Marocco nel 2001. Il nostro tour inizierà guidando per un paio d'ore attraverso la montagna dell'Atlante, con alcune soste lungo il percorso: la prima tappa è vedere alcune "capre volanti" arrampicarsi sugli alberi di Argan alla ricerca di noci fresche. La seconda tappa è rilassarsi e fare una pausa caffè in un villaggio berbero. Terza tappa per visitare la fabbrica dell'Olio di Argan. Una volta arrivati a Essaouira, avrai il tuo tempo libero per visitare il souk che si trova all'interno della Medina. E fai un giro dei bastioni della Kasbah e della Scala, dove esplorerai i bastioni della Scala, il porto di Essaouira, il mercato municipale, i gioiellieri di quartiere e il complesso artigianale.
La Sqala du Port fu costruita nel 1769, per ordine del sultano Mohammed Ben Abdellah, della dinastia Alaouita. Il Castelo Real era lì, e fu distrutto per la costruzione del porto di Essaouira e dei suoi bastioni. Le pietre dell'antico Castelo Real sono state utilizzate per la costruzione della Sqala du Port2. Prese parte alla difesa della città durante il bombardamento di Mogador operato dalla Francia, nell'ambito della guerra franco-marocchina3. È stato classificato come monumento storico dal dahir del 30 agosto 19241.
Il porto di Essaouira è un importante porto peschereccio tradizionale e storico del XVIII secolo, a Essaouira, sull'Oceano Atlantico, in Marocco1. Antico e pittoresco porto peschereccio tradizionale, il più rinomato del paese2, è uno dei 14 principali porti pescherecci del Marocco, ed è uno dei luoghi top per il turismo in Marocco, con le sue spiagge e la sua vicina Medina fortificata di Essaouira sul bordo dell'oceano, elencato come patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO3.
I bastioni di Essaouira sono una parte importante della storia di Essaouira, una città marittima marocchina sulle rive dell'Oceano Atlantico. Fu nel 1506 che i portoghesi costruirono i primi bastioni della città, allora chiamata Mogador, considerata un importante punto strategico. Oltre a questi bastioni fu costruito anche un porto, Mogador divenne poi un importante centro commerciale per i portoghesi. La costruzione della Fortezza, chiamata Castelo Real dai portoghesi, e dei suoi bastioni hanno lo scopo principale di proteggersi dalle invasioni straniere, la città sarebbe troppo vulnerabile senza di loro. Così, i bastioni hanno permesso di respingere i successivi attacchi alla città da parte di spagnoli, inglesi, olandesi e francesi. Questi bastioni, così come il Castelo Real, saranno distrutti nel XVIII secolo da Mohammed III, il sultano marocchino dell'epoca.

Great safe driver on the winding roads up the coast. I was pleased I'd taken an anti-sickness tablet prior to setting off though. We had the same guide as the Marrakech trip (Abdullah) so there was some repetition of information on the bus. At least a smaller number of people this time. We had a stop off at a petrol station for WC (take your own paper or you will have to pay for it). Then we stopped at an argan oil women's co-operative which was a very slick operation. The centre of Essaouria was beautiful and easy to navigate. We had a basic guided tour through the medina and souk and were allowed 10 mins on the city walls. We would have preferred to then have been given free time to find our own lunch and have a wander around as so many lovely little eateries in the town but we were herded without any choice into the worst touristy restaurant and expected to eat a full meal. We then realised half the people had disappeared to do their own thing! I strongly suggest you remove what comes across as an obligatory lunch from this tour.

Our tour guide Abdul may looked very traditional but he was very cool. We learned a lot about Essaouira, it’s history and culture. The drive was a bit long around 6 hours in total. Wear good shoes and be prepared with unpleasant smell in some places included in the tour.

A city worth seeing. Picked up from the hotel on time in the morning, a total of 12 hours on the road with a pleasant rhythm of breaks. Tour guide with just the right amount of information on the way and during the city tour, not too much and not too little, easy to understand in French, English and German. Of course there was also a stop on the topic of argan oil, but nothing was pushy. I would have liked more free time for my own discoveries and photos, unfortunately I went to eat at the recommended restaurant. The food was good, the price was reasonable, but it took 1.5 hours, so there was only 30 minutes of free time. A shame, but a reason to come back?!

I was excited about this trip, the journey was shorter than to Marrakesh, in the morning the coordinator arrived at the hotel for us and loaded us into a Škoda Superb (nice to drive a Czech car in Morocco) and took us to the other side of the city, where we changed to a minibus. The journey went quickly and behind me is the old city of Medina - more picturesque and above all cleaner and less dusty than Marrakesh. Next, a tour of the fortress, walls and port. Again a tour of the inside of a classic house, lunch was also with a beautiful view, and shopping is much cheaper than Marrakesh and Agadir, although I was able to bargain hard and I heard from three merchants at the closing of the shop that it is very difficult to trade with seeds - plus one in Marrakesh, he told me that I was rich and that I was robbing him, and after handing over the goods and money, he angrily left the store. Again, the price from Beach Tours is great and much better than with a travel card. I can only recommend, and if someone chooses from several trips, I would rather go to Essaouira than to Marrakech.
