Dar es Salaam (che significa "luogo di pace") è la città più grande ed ex capitale della Tanzania. Sulla costa swahili, Dar es-Salaam è un importante centro economico e una delle città in più rapida crescita al mondo.

Itinerario
Il nostro tour inizierà al mercato di Kariakoo. La storia di questo mercato risale al 1916. Dopo che i britannici catturarono Dar es Salaam dai tedeschi durante la prima guerra mondiale -1, costruirono un deposito per i loro corpi di trasporto non più necessari, il Governatore permise che l'edificio venisse usato come mercato, quindi il nome "Carrier Corps Market" e l'oratore Swahili pronunciano il nome come "Kariakoo". Ed è così che si sa fino ad oggi.
Dopo il mercato di Kariakoo passerai attraverso il monumento della torcia Uhuru nella zona di Mnazi Mmoja, Dar es Salaam, vecchio Boma, quindi raggiungerai la Cattedrale cattolica romana che si affaccia sul porto. San Giuseppe è la prima cattedrale cattolica romana nella Tanzania continentale. Il completamento dell'edificio principale durò cinque anni, 1897-1902, e fu consacrato il 15 ottobre 1908. È artisticamente costruito in stile gotico con guglia a strati, un interno a volta e un rilievo scolpito sopra l'altare principale. L'interno conserva ancora le originali iscrizioni tedesche.
Dopo la cattedrale cattolica passerai alla cattedrale luterana e poi al monumento Askari. Il monumento Askari fu costruito dal governo coloniale britannico in sostituzione di un'altra statua montata dal governo coloniale tedesco nel 1911 in commemorazione del maggiore Herman Von Wissmann, il primo governatore dell'Africa orientale tedesca, nominato nel 1895. Gli inglesi lo demolirono nel 1916 in seguito alla sconfitta della Germania e ritirarsi durante la prima guerra mondiale.
Museum and House of Culture (MHC) è il primo Museo Nazionale istituito in Tanzania, nel 1937 e aperto al pubblico il 7 dicembre 1940. Inizialmente era noto come Museo del memoriale del re Giorgio V, dopo il re Giorgio V di Gran Bretagna morto nel 1936. Nel 1962 il nome fu cambiato in Museo Nazionale.
Sulla strada per il mercato del pesce passerai lungo la Tanzania State House (non è consentito scattare foto). Dirigiti verso il mercato del pesce di Kivukoni, qui vedrai i pescatori vendere il loro pescato ai ristoratori e alle casalinghe che venivano a comprare. Il mercato è diviso in due sezioni principali, che comprende otto zone, una delle quali è l'asta. In altre sezioni il pesce viene pulito, cucinato e rivenduto a prezzi maggiorati.
Dopo la visita al mercato del pesce farai una pausa pranzo (pagherai direttamente in hotel), poi prenderai i mezzi pubblici da Kivukoni alla strada del Marocco, da lì prenderai il tuk tuk (Rick Shaw) fino al Museo del Villaggio. Il Museo del villaggio, o popolarmente "Kijiji cha Makumbusho" (in swahili "Museo del villaggio") si trova lungo Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road a Kijitonyama. Il Museo presenta una ventina di case tradizionali che rappresentano gli oltre 120 gruppi etnici presenti in Tanzania. Le case comprendono capanne arredate, recinti per il bestiame e luoghi di ritrovo. I visitatori possono entrare nelle case. Dopo la visita all'interno del museo avrai la possibilità di assistere alle tradizionali sessioni di ngoma (danza) che abbiamo organizzato per te.
Dopo il museo del villaggio completeremo il nostro tour visitando il mercato degli scultori del legno di Mwenge. Vedrai diversi prodotti intagliatori del legno realizzati dal famoso albero nero africano (Ebony Tree). Successivamente l'autista ti lascerà in hotel.

The driver pick up at the hotel was over 1.5 hours late. At the minimum, he should have called the front desk the reason for his delay, such as, traffic, car problems, an accident, etc. There was no communication on the morning of the pick up and I was left at the hotel lobby wondering whether, I have been scammed.
Thank you Mr. Chungsen for taking your time for writing review for us. We will take this as a challenge in our industry as every one deserve best service even sometimes can be affected by weather or something else which is out of our control. I contacted front desk of your hotel to let you know that our driver/guide they are on the way but they will delay because of ground situation like road construction going on around the city and rain in some area of the city which cause traffic to reach on your hotel side. As you know your tour was supposed to be done on April 08 and instead you requested to postpone it to April 09. We accepted your requested without any charges and we offered free pick up from your hotel instead of picking you at ferry ticket office. When you meet your drive he apologies to you for delay and told you they will compensate your time but you told is ok no problem since service return smoothly again. Regarding front desk told you accident on way car broken down. Was not true as you saw our vehicle good condition with E registration plate. I also shocked why you was feeling scammed while lobby front desk explaining to you everything. After finishing the tour guide was very happy after telling them you will write good review for him. Also they say you enjoyed your lunch with Impala meat! 😋 We promise you more than best service for next destination. Asante sana na Karibu tena!
This private tour was excellent! From the time I booked the excursion Mansoor was always in contact with me as to what time he would be at the cruise ship to pick us up. He always had cold water available his mini van was in excellent condition and clean. We followed the itinerary that they suggested to see the most important things. The fish market was very interesting on how fish was sold, cleaned and taken to market. The local village museum was interesting on how they lived in the earlier days. We saw both christian churches which was very nice. I can’t say enough positive things about Mansoor and how he took care of us the whole day!

We booked the city tour for our first day in Tanzania without knowing what to expect in Dar es Salaam. Mansoor Mohamed and Sylvester picked us up at the hotel, which was a bit out of town, and on the way into the city, we heard a lot from Sylvester about the history of the city and the current situation. We had a full schedule, but the two of them still accommodated our wishes. We spontaneously walked through a very busy business district. Sylvester was very thoughtful and introduced us to the country's specialties and the mentality of the residents. Two church visits, a visit to the fish market and two museums were still on the agenda. We took our time at the fish market and then went first to the Tanzanian National Museum, where we learned a lot thanks to Sylvester's extensive knowledge and an interesting discussion developed about the exhibits. Afterwards we visited the Village Museum with the various traditional village houses. Here, too, Sylvester knew how to answer every question. At the end of the museum visit, there was the opportunity to see a traditional dance and music performance. It was nice that we had lunch together and then had a coffee to round off the day. Mansoor Mohamed and Sylvester speak English at a very high level. Sylvester is a very well-read and considerate guide, Mansoor Mohamed is an excellent driver. Thank you.

Mansoor ( driver ) and Jibu ( tour guide ) are the best . They are very patient . Give us time to do all the things we need to see . Jibu is very knowledgeable about Tanzania . For a very short period of time he was able to explain to us the important history , current events , Tanzanian culture introduce us to Tanzanian food while we see all the places that was in the itinerary. This duo team are excellent . I wish I have more time to do a safari tour with this 2 guys .
