Just awful from start to finish. Tour was supposed to start with Dawn Safari at 5am, but didn't get picked up until after 7am!!! Operator didn't even have courtesy to contact me to advise there would be a late pick up. When we got to Botswana, discovered that Tanmuka Travel had subcontracted Chobe Trip to Shangamera Tours. (Googled business after tour to find that website access was blocked because business was operating without consent of shareholders!!!) We were kept waiting in safari vehicle for over an hour while we waited for other "guests." Guide was terrible - just recited facts and was so bad at spotting wildlife, he drove straight past a giraffe on the side of the road! Boat cruise was just as bad. Seating was plastic garden chairs that weren't secured to deck, meaning chairs tilted back whenever boat hit waves AND we got BOGGED on an island in the river, right next to a crocodile. Took over 15 minutes to get boat back in water so our cruise was cut short, too. Tour was advertised as dawn safari with Chobe 3 hour safari and Chobe 3 hour boat cruise, but both Chobe tours went for about 90 minutes. Tanmuka Travel gave a $60 refund for late pick up, but I'm still $290 out of pocket for the worst tour I have ever done. Just avoid. Plenty of GOOD tour operators in Victoria Falls.
Thank you for the feedback to clarify on what happened on the day of your tour; You were supposed to be picked up at 5am but since you were the only person who booked we had to move you to join others at a later pick up that is why we had to partially refund you for the the hours you had missed. Secondly, Shangamera is a registered fully functional company that we have partnered with to work with them from Botswana side and they have all the required documents that is why they were allowed to go inside the park, if they were not registered they would not have been allowed in the park. As for the boats we do not use luxury boats but small boats that allows easy maneuvering to see aquatic wiildife wildlife, plants and crocodiles. We can not blame the guide for failing to see a giraffe that was by the side of the road as he will also be looking other angles to ensure your safety and spotting oher animals that is why he mentions that if you see any animals you should notify him as he might have missed it. We do not agree that the whole tour took 90 minutes as the distance from your hotel to the national park gate takes about an hour or slightly more.
Very sadly a large group of others booked for this activity with me cancelled last minute so they didn’t have the minimum number to go ahead. The company however (and Brighton specifically) could not have been more helpful in assisting me to book a similar tour so I could still enjoy a wonderful day. He was exceptionally helpful and responsive in ensuring I got my full refund through Viator, going above and beyond!
