Da Salerno : Parco Archeologico di Pompei con Guida Esperta

Pompeii is well worth the visit! Our meeting agent Martina was communicative and the meeting point was easy to find on foot. Ride was very comfortable, about 30ish minutes so not too bad. The tour guide in Pompeii I believe was Michele and he was great, he was well informed, engaging and funny. Loved seeing the ruins, would do it again!

Positive: Transportation was very good. Tour was very informative, a proper length and weather was perfect. The crowd was okay. The information provided was ver interesting. Negative: having to pay to use the bathroom.

The tour of Pompei only touches the tip of the city. You do learn about the eruption and the way of life. Any questions while on the tour were answered. You need a lot more time and days to really see Pompei as it is much larger than you imagined.

Directions of where to meet the driver was incorrect. Upon arrival to the noted departure point, we spoke with another Viator representative who said we were at the correct location. Waited approximately 40 minutes without any representative appearing. Wife spoke with terminal employee who was gracious enough to call tour guide. He informed us that the location was approximately one block away. Luckily the tour driver waited for us. The van driver was one of the most horrific drivers that I have ever experienced. Better part of journey, he tailgate vehicles sometimes being as close to half a car length behind. Quite harrowing experience. One we arrived at destination, we were met by the tour guide, who was phenomenal. If you are lucky enough to find the van and have a different driver, you will love the guide.

This tour was a highlight of our stay in Salerno and we chose a half day tour because it fit us better. On reflection, we would not see Pompeii without a guide! Transfer went smoothly and our guide Lisa was very clear in her communication. Finally, by visiting in December the weather was comfortable and our group size only 8! Another great experience via Viatour.

They picked us up from a place close to the hotel and drove us to Pompeii. There, we had a 2-hour tour with someone who has a lot of knowledge about the place. There were a lot of interesting details about Pompeii. We got to see the typical street, the House of the Lovers, the baths, and the forum. Overall, it was a short tour, but it included everything you need to see if you don’t have time to spend a whole day. Everyone was very professional. I would recommend this tour 100%.

As a solo traveler on this trip, I really appreciated the driver picking me up at the place I was staying. Everything was done in an organized, professional manner. The guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor about her. She also kept watch over her flick, and didn’t lose any of us.

Much of this tour is spent waiting such as for late comers, people going to the restroom and waiting for other tours to move onto other areas of interest. The guide was interesting enough, but we were very limited in what we could see due to the business of multiple groups booked on the day. In hindsight, it would be better to move through the site individually as there is a greater opportunity to see more. A real low point was the tour operator asking if we wanted to use the restroom (for a fee of 50 cents) before beginning the actual tour. The toilets were run by rude people and the toilet facilities were dirty. Please note there are free toilets within the Pompeii site. The highlight of the tour was the actual bus ride from Salerno to Pompeii.

Pompeii is awesome. Had difficulty understanding guide, although she did very well. Group was large. Was difficult to find the van that picked us up because signage was nonexistent.

The driver was on time at the designated pickup. He drove competently but very slowly to the destination. He provided no verbal information at all. At the destination we were met by another person who escorted us to the ticketing area for Pompeii then announced that he was not our guide and that our guide would arrive at 11:00 am and he gave us her name. There were six of us in our group. It turned out to be 33 in the tour group and getting the group together was extremely chaotic. The tour itself was great but the tour guide did not keep track of people and we lost her a couple of times. At the end of the tour finding our ride back to Salerno was equally chaotic and time-consuming (1/2 hour). We had the same driver, driving the same speed in total silence all the way back. Overall an expensive bus service particularly since entrance fees for Pompeii were free that day. No refund offered.
