Itinerario

Overall, the tour (not the scenery) was very disappointing. It all started with the fact that the booked hike through Wicklow National Park was canceled, and we were instead forced to visit the Powerscourt Garden with the other group (the group consists of people who booked the hike for €75 and those who booked the same trip to Powerscourt Garden for €55, and the group splits you in the morning, the afternoon program remains the same). The program remains the same). In any case, we specifically booked the €75 tour for the hike and then had to find out that it was canceled. So we paid an extra €20 per person and then still had to pay the entrance fee for the garden! Furthermore, the listed tour points did not really take place. 1. The description states "numerous photo stops" => we briefly stopped at the P.S. I Love You bridge and at the Guinness sea, which was listed as tour points anyway... 2. the 20-minute stop at Sally Gap was completely canceled 3. there was supposed to be a 30-minute tour in Glendalough => there wasn't one either Oh, and the third image that the organizer uses for advertising in the title photo shows a viewpoint above the Glendalough Upper Lakes. You have a one-hour stay in Glendalough. This point is reachable from the parking lot in 1.5 hours (one way) according to Google Maps and in 2 hours (one way) according to Komoot. So this point is never reachable, as you would need at least 3 hours. Advertising this is somewhat shameless and dishonest.
I'm sorry that you did not enjoy the tour. I'm not sure why you didn't go for your guided walk, I will check with the guide. Its just an additional €10 for the guided walk not €20. You pay a reduced rate at Powerscourt of €10, so the tours basically cost the same price. It is just a 20 minute walk to the Upper lake in Glendalough from where the bus car park is and we encourage all our visitors to do it as it's a lovely easy flat walk by the lower lake.
Derek gets a 10/10! A wonderful walk in nature, beautiful sights, stories, and anecdotes ! Comfortable travel and options!
Thank you very much for the excellent review.
The Wicklow Guided walking tour with tour guide Linda and her pup Bowie, quiet lunch in Enniskerry and visit to Glendalough was a refreshing and an exceptional experience. We enjoyed the pace of the walking tour and the information provided by Linda the tour guide/driver. As a local resident she was able to provide valuable insight into the Wicklow area which added so much to our Ireland experience. The day tour was a great balance between guided tour and time on our own to explore at our own pace. We highly recommend Hilltop Treks for your next adventure.
Thank you very much for the excellent and detailed review.
The tour today with Linda and her dog Bowie was great! Linda provided interesting historical information throughout the day, starting before we’d even left Dublin. The walk offered great views to Dublin and Dublin bay, and was on a quiet trail without lots of crowds (other than our group of 6 :-)). I very much appreciated being part of a small group tour and would absolutely book with Hilltop Treks again.
Thank you for the excellent review and its always great to get a high recommendation.
Matt is an amazingly attentive & entertaining guide. Thanks for the tip about the Saint Kevin’s Red Ale! A great way to see the Irish countryside while staying in Dublin.
Thank you Christine for the excellent review.
The Powercourt Estate was stunning! And Wicklow national park is massive and so beautiful! So happy I booked this!
Thank you very much Maggie for the wonderful review.
The walking tour/ Hike offered some great photo opportunities. The natural beauty was really nice. I’d suggest the park enforce pet waste as the trail had many dog bits along the way left for hikers. The Glendalough tour was nice and a great chance to learn about early Christianity in Ireland.
Gillian was our guide and we had a lovely day with her local background she kept us entertained with just the right amount of history, context, botany, background on contemporary Ireland and even some gossip. Really great time, many couples, and friends and anyone would feel welcomed. The scenery is already beautiful all you need to know is a little bit of the how and why to help really get a sense of the country! Thoroughly recommend! Liz and Tom May 2026
Thank you very much Liz and Tom for the excellent review.
