Excellent day out! Strongly recommend just be sure you get used to the altitude spending some time in Cusco first as it is only a short 6km walk but is fairly steep and quite hard work if you are not fit. Horses are available at cost but remember to take Soles
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your day at Humantay Lake. It truly is a spectacular place, and your kind recommendation means a lot to us. You’re absolutely right about the altitude taking time in Cusco to acclimatize makes the hike much more enjoyable. We also appreciate your helpful tips for future travelers regarding the steep sections and the optional horses. It was an honor to have you, and we hope to welcome you again on another adventure in Peru. Warm regards,
In my opinion caution should be exercised no one tells you it is a road with stones. Something and bass. The muddy earth season depends. You can get on horseback but the poor if they see very tired and do not climb you to the top. For me it's dangerous, nice experience but not for everyone.
We went to Laguna humantay and we did with the guide Monica who was very dear, helpful and had a lot of patience with us! We had a bad time during the tour and the guide Monica helped us! The only thing that left us a little uncomfortable was the speed of the driver on the roads! But the walk is beautiful and worth it! The place that stops for food is also very good! We thanked our guide for the help, because without her we would not have finished hahah we were riding, which helped us a lot to complete the track for our health conditions at the moment!
The lagoon is beautiful and its surroundings too, getting there is not easy as the hike requires very good physical condition, additional it is important to avoid altitude sickness with the recommendations given by guides.
I really loved the Tours, Guillermo the guide is the best guide we have ever had, from the beginning he is very attentive and empathetic to everyone. Thank you very much to Guillermo and the driver very kind. In fact there was a couple who could no longer go on and came running back for 2 horses so they could lkear. The place is beautiful you won't regret. Decide on this agency you won't regret it and if it's your turn Guillermo salute him for me.
What a wonderful place!!! Upon reaching the lagoon, the effort of climbing is rewarded. The climb and descent are not easy, so be physically prepared.
Wonderful walk, the climb is difficult, take coke leaves to chew, water, breath. A guet your guide gives all support, perfect guide.
Everything that was the excursion (breakfast, buffet lunch), excellent, Just like the guide! Very kind. I put 3 circles, because, I made the SERIOUS ERROR OF HORSEBACK RIDING, out of fear. Honestly the worst decision in the world, I'm so sorry. Who knows how many times a day they should go up, the guide told me that 1 or 2 times maximum, however, I don't think so. I have seen the tiredness of the poor animals, being forced to follow. Please DO NOT GO ON HORSEBACK 🙏🏽 I made the terrible mistake of doing it, there should not be that. Well, animal exploitation.
Beautiful place , beautiful colors , route of 10 km about 700 meters altitude difference , for those who are not trained half difficult for altitude .. They perform Service with horses to approach the lake!
We were picked up at the Andén Inka Hotel in Cusco around 4:30 am. After 2 h we stopped for breakfast. As the lagoon is 4200m high, we follow the directions of locals and avoid eating much food. After breakfast, after about 1 h of walking on the bus, we arrive at a place located approximately 5 km from the lagoon. In principle you have to climb but there are 2 possible paths, one of slight slope and shorter fall of greater slope which is the one that touched us because there was a machine fixing the other path. After 4km of simple walking except for the initial climb, where we found some decomposed people, we reached the final climb of about 1km in length. We decided to rent horses that took us very close to the end of the climb and after a short walk we reached the lagoon. As the day was sunny and windless, the spectacle that nature offered us was beautiful. It reminded me a lot of the lagoon of the three that can be seen in El Chalten, Argentina. The truth is, as usual, nature left me speechless.
